PURA VIDA BRACELETS LAUNCHES NEW CUSTOMIZABLE JEWELRY COLLECTION

Pura Vida Bracelets, La Jolla-based jewelry and accessories brand with almost 2 million followers on Instagram, launched a line of new, engravable metal jewelry on January 21, 2020. The brand, widely beloved for its handcrafted string bracelets, is thrilled to introduce a completely new category to its community featuring customizable pieces, ideal for gifting. The launch marks the biggest product expansion since the debut of Pura Vida’s original metal jewelry pieces in 2016. Since launching the metal line, the brand has grown the collection to become 30% of its overall sales.

This news comes seven months after Vera Bradley acquired a 75% majority stake in Pura Vida Bracelets for $130M; Pura Vida continues to operate independently.

The new collection consists of two ring styles, two bracelet styles, and one necklace style, which are available in gold, rose gold, and silver. The pieces can be engraved with fonts including Lucida Handwriting, Courier New, or the Pura Vida brand font, as well as with Greek letters. All items can also be engraved with signature Pura Vida graphics, including a pineapple, tree, heart, and waves.

“We’ve been discussing expanding our metal collection for some time now,” says Griffin Thall, CEO & Co-Founder of Pura Vida Bracelets. “Our original metal pieces were so well received – our wave ring is actually one of our best sellers! We’re always looking for new ways to provide our brand fans with items that we know they’ll love. We think our community will be thrilled with the option to customize their Pura Vida accessories, whether it be for a friend, family member, sorority sister, or coworker – the options are endless.”

Pura Vida Bracelets is a Costa Rica-born and Cali-bred lifestyle brand that sources ethically-produced handcrafted pieces from over 800 artisans worldwide. About Pura Vida Bracelets:

Pura Vida Bracelets was born when friends Griffin Thall and Paul Goodman crossed paths with two talented bracelet artisans, Jorge and Joaquin, while on a post-grad surf trip to Costa Rica in 2010. Jorge and Joaquin made colorful, handmade bracelets that seemed to capture the essence of the “pura vida” lifestyle, which means “pure life” in Spanish and is a philosophy that encourages the appreciation of life’s simple treasures.

In an effort to help the artisans and bring a piece of Costa Rica back stateside, Griffin and Paul bought 400 bracelets to sell at home in San Diego. They sold out in a matter of days and the rest is history. Today, over 800 artisans in Costa Rica, El Salvador, and India can depend on a steady income and positive working environments, thanks to the support of Pura Vida’s community.

Giving back has always a core value at Pura Vida. Since 2010, the brand has partnered with over 175 charities around the world as a part of their ongoing charity collection and has donated more than $1.9 million to environmental, health and humanitarian causes. The brand’s recent Australian Fire Relief bracelet sold out in under 24 hours and provided over $23K to the cause.

During the summer of 2019, Vera Bradley acquired a 75% majority stake in Pura Vida Bracelets for $130M.
