Get Flawless Looking Skin with the Amazing Range of @sheercover makeup kits!

If you’re like me, you’ll have tried a lot of different makeup lines on the market but realized hardly any of them live up to the hype. Until now! Welcome to Sheer Cover Studio.

    Sheer Cover Studio

Endorsed by the ultra-beautiful Brooke Burke-Charvet, the entire range of Sheer Cover Studio is simply amazing, delivering skin-friendly makeup that conceals the flaws while highlighting your favorite features. Oh, and the entire line contains these fantastic features:

    ♥ Non-comedogenic (so it won’t block pores)

♥ Contains no binders, no talc, no mineral oil, no silicones, no dyes

♥ Contains no preservatives, no fillers, no chemicals

    ♥ Allergy-tested and dermatologist-tested for sensitive skin

    ♥ Sweat-proof

The idea of Sheer Cover Studio is to give you a completely natural look. So don’t expect a caked-on face with this stuff and don’t expect it to take hours to apply (like some of the other brands out there that promise to do away with your wrinkles/dark circles/uneven skin tone).

I was lucky enough to be contacted by Guthy|Renker on behalf of Sheer Cover Studio to try (and LOVE) the 5-Piece 30-Day Basic Kit, which retails for $29.95 and includes:

    –       Perfect Shade Mineral Foundation

    –       Conceal & Brighten Trio

    –       Sun-Kissed Bronzing Minerals

    –       Lengthening Mascara

    –       Lash Extending Fibers

    –       Bonus 3-Piece Brush Set (score!)

    5 Piece 30 Day

Here’s how I’m using the system:

I start with a very sorry-looking “before” face (I know, I know, lock up your sons!).

    before

Apply (my own) moisturizer and then apply the concealer, blending in the red, uneven patches and working my way under the eye and over other such blemishes.

Next comes the Brightener. Use this to highlight the eyes by applying it under the brow bones and at the inner and outer corners of each eye. Looove this step!

The Perfect Shade Mineral Foundation comes next. This stuff is fantastic—just dip in the brush and work in circular motions around the face until most of those little imperfections are history. It comes in an assortment of shades and uses a patented color matching technology for a guaranteed natural color match. The foundation is also enhanced with antioxidant green tea to help reduce any visible signs of aging, plus skin-soothing bisabolol and zinc to help calm irritation and redness.

Finish the face with a light dusting of the Sun-Kissed Bronzing Minerals. These minerals highlight your favorite features; try some on your neck and décolletage, too—it’ll look amazing.

To finish the look, Sheer Cover Studio has come up with a 3-step eyelash system that gives you sexy lashes in an instant. First apply the lengthening mascara as you would any other, then apply a layer of lash extending fibers (see the pic!). These fibers will attach to the eyelashes, and once you apply another coat of mascara, they’ll make your lashes appear so Hollywood.

    after

Head on over to Sheer Cover Studio to grab one of their kits — you won’t regret it. This makeup is incredible!

    Summer Beauty Everyday Minerals

Last week I got a great little package from my friends at Everyday Minerals all the way from Austin, TX. They come in 3 shades that are free of fragrance, lake dyes, bismuth, oxychloride, carmine or parabens. Mineral makeup is great for your skin and makes your complexion looks effortless without looking ‘plastic’ or ‘fake’ the way regular foundation could make you look.

I am a fan of these because they are the perfect size for travel and oh so versatile for summer!

    @StilaCosmetics 2012 Summer Favorites

Having attended two beauty shows in the past month, I have to say I’ve grown in love with the Stila booth! The ProArtists are wonderfully friendly and helpful, and I always manage to find just the product I’m looking for when I stop by. This month, I discovered three products that I couldn’t help but share! They are the One Step Correct, the Set & Bronze Baked Powder Trio, and the Custom Color Blush in Self-Adjusting Coral.

I love all three of these products, especially for the summer! The One Step Correct primer acts as a skin tone corrector and brightening serum. With the benefits of its “Youth Revival” mineral complex, and the triple-swirled helix that works to minimize redness, counteract sallow undertones, and as an illuminator, I like to use it even without any makeup on. Next, the Set and Bronze Trio — a bronzer that also sets my makeup, this powder definitely makes it to my summer essentials list. I love it and it’s quickly become part of my daily makeup routine. It highlights and gives off a subtle youthful glow, seemingly effortless. And last, but not least, the Custom Color Blush is the newest member to my Stila collection. I love the look of coral during the summer, and this product reacts with your skin tone to create a one of a kind customized glow perfect for you.
I’m a huge fan of Stila Cosmetics; what Stila product is your beauty essential for this summer?

    Eyeshadow Palette from @GiselleCosmetic

Looking for an eye shadow quick fix? Giselle Cosmetics is the solution! With their perfectly matched 8-in-1 eye shadow stack of complimenting mineral shadows, Giselle Cosmetics Mineral Make-Up embraces the challenges that all beauties face. We all know that mineral makeup has endless benefits, but I especially like the look and feel of Giselle Cosmetics on every skin-type!

    • Oily Skin: There are no oils to clog pores or make skin look shiny, thus allowing the skin to breathe. Use of this color cosmetic pallet will give you a lot of choices.
    • Dry Skin: Giselle Cosmetics uses no talc so makeup won’t settle into the tiny lines and wrinkles that can make your skin look old and dry.
    • Sensitive Skin: There is no fragrance, no fillers, and no chemical dyes to irritate your skin.
    • Youthful Skin: Giselle Cosmetics provides sheer, beautiful, youth enhancing coverage without the “made-up” look.
    • Mature Skin: Giselle Cosmetics contains mica, which is a natural light reflector, giving the skin a youthful, healthy glow.
    • Sun Sensitive Skin: Giselle Cosmetics utilizes the mineral Titanium Dioxide to provide natural sun protection as an SPF 15. Virtually all skin types, colors, and ages will benefit from the beautiful, natural approach to a flawless looking complexion.

Made from 100% pure mineral powder and mica color, Giselle make up can be used as eye shadow, lip color, eyeliner, blush, shimmering tan, shimmering foundation, body bronzer, nail polisher, and hair lightener — a great addition to any cosmetic collection.

I first saw Giselle Cosmetics at IMATS in NYC, and the ‘Las Vegas’ stack immediately became my go-to palette. With eight colors ranging from bright emerald greens and blues, to a natural beige highlight, Giselle Cosmetics really took the guesswork out of creating the perfect palette. Also, the stacks are interchangeable, so, if you’re a neat freak like me, you can color-code the stacks and order the shadows in whatever way works for you!

What I love most about the shadows is that their ultra fine loose mineral powers are great for blending, super bright, and they’re true to their color. Try mixing the shimmer shadows with aloe or any other gel moisturizer to get that runway foil effect!

Giselle 8-in-1 eye shadow stacks are available for purchase on their website for $14.97. There are 12 sets of 8 in the collection.

    E.L.F. Mineral Makeup Brushes Review

I recently purchased brushes from @eyeslipsface‘s Mineral Makeup line. I got the All-over Eyeshadow Brush, Contour Brush, Blending Eye Brush, and Angled Blush Brush. Their website describes them to be:

“This antibacterial Taklon bristled brush is 100% cruelty free, luxuriously soft and can be used with wet or dry products and is ideal for e.l.f. Natural Mineral Makeup. The natural and sustainable bamboo handle fits ergonomically in your hand for comfort and precise application. The recycled Ferrule is eco-friendly for guilt free beauty. Because beautifying yourself and the world is a beautiful thing!”

I must say I’m actually a bit disappointed with these brushes. They’re $5 a piece which is more than their Essential AND Studio brushes. The bristles are pretty soft but don’t apply product amazingly (their cheaper Studio line brushes are better, in my opinion.) For the eye brushes I got, they’re all shaped about the same as my professional brushes except the feeling when you drag them over your fingertips or on your eyelids don’t feel the same. I can’t quite put my finger on how to describe it. I think these brushes remind me more of soft craft and painting brushes rather than makeup brushes.

The All-over Eyeshadow brush was probably my least favorite of the bunch. I found that I had to apply more layers of shadow in order to get the color payoff I wanted. Sweeping the brush gave you a pretty even sheer color depending on the eyeshadow you used. I would say pressing the brush on to your lid would result in better color payoff. Overall I felt that even for the price of this brush, there’s way better ones out there even from their Studio collection.

The Contour Brush, to me, is just like a large pencil brush. It’s usage is described to be for “detailed contouring and blending in the crease and corners of the eye” but maybe because I have relatively small lids and an even smaller crease area (because I’m asian) it doesn’t really work for me. I tried applying my outer corner color with my regular pencil brush and blending with the Contour brush and it seemed to do the job. It’s got a stiffer point than the Blending brush but it works.

The Blending Eye Brush was my favorite of the eye brushes I purchased. It’s the softest of the brushes and does a good job of blending. I actually found good use of it to apply my darker outer corner color as well. I like to dip it in a bit of color like a black or brown and spin the brush between my fingers on the outer corner of my eye to get a soft but opaque color (then blend out the edges of course).

The Angled Blush Brush was pretty good actually. It picked up color pretty well and distributed product evenly. Comparing it to my Essence of Beauty double ended Blush and Powder brush, I actually think this brush is better (even though it doesn’t have a powder brush side). Given my Essence of Beauty Blush and Powder brush is really old now it didn’t stand up as well as my Essence of Beauty Foundation/Concealer brush or my Eyeshadow/Blending brush. The reason I think the E.L.F. Angled Blush Brush will stand up better is because the bristles seem to be softer than the Essence of Beauty one and with good care and washing, should last you a while.

Overall I still prefer professional makeup brushes over these E.L.F. Mineral brushes any day! These brushes took time to get used to and just didn’t apply product as good as I’d hope. I’m not saying E.L.F. brushes are a no go in general though. I happen to really love a few of their Studio brushes (which I will review when I get to it :)) I do think that these brushes are not the top brushes from E.L.F. and for being brushes for Mineral makeup, I’m not quite sure how these would apply mineral makeup better than regular makeup. I would think that if these brushes aren’t AMAZING at applying regular makeup, they most likely won’t give you the greatest color payoff or the look you desire with minerals. I have not tried these brushes with mineral makeup yet but if you have let me know how it works for you.

If you’re into the cruelty-free and recycled part of the brushes I’d definitely say try these. These would probably be good brushes to use for a few months and replace and with the affordable prices you can definitely replace them as often as you want. I recommend replaces brushes especially face brushes every few months for those with acne or problem skin (bacteria lives and grows in your makeup and makeup brushes, reusing dirty brushes just spreads around the acne/problem causing bacteria).

Find these brushes and the rest of E.L.F.’s products online or at your local Target!

    Napoleon Perdis’ Rock On Event

Yesterday afternoon, I had the pleasure of visiting with @NapoleonPerdis at his Hollywood concept store for a lovely luncheon while he and his wonderful team told us about his new ROCK ON Collection. This collection consists of a Mattifying Mineral Primer and an Advanced Mineral Makeup with SPF 15.

The Mattifying Mineral Primer is something completely new to me. Its a translucent powder that can be used as a primer BEFORE applying the liquid mineral foundation and AFTER to set the liquid. SUPER COOL RIGHT? The powder gives you a a great canvas to prep the face with and gives you a flawless airbrushed look after. It’s also rich in antioxidants like grape seed extract, white tea extract, and aloe vera which we all know is amazing for your skin! Comes in a great no mess container that I love!

The Advanced Mineral Makeup is a creamy liquid mineral-rich foundation that contains SPF 15 and is packed with  ingredients like natural bark extracts to absorb oils, sodium hyaluronate and squalane to boost collagen production and keep your skin hydrated. Its oil free and hypoallergenic, great for those with sensitive or oil-prone skin.

I think the idea of using a powder as a primer is GENIUS! The mineral powder as Napoleon said, “gives the Mineral Makeup something to stick to.” For those that are shiny/oily prone like me, I feel like using a powder as a primer gives me the reassurance that I won’t be getting shiny anytime soon instead of worry if the primer I use is going to help or make it worse! The liquid mineral makeup was really light on my skin and gave me a nice dewy look. From previous experience with mineral makeup (like Bare Minerals) I always turn out somewhat shimmery or too dewy or just not enough coverage. The foundation was very buildable and what I liked most was that it acted like a normal foundation but that its a mineral makeup which is soooo much better for your skin. The foundation with a light dusting of the Mattifying Mineral Primer before and after gave me the perfect face. Not chalky look at all. I found that throughout the day as I was wearing it, I didn’t see my makeup disappearing which happens a lot with mineral makeup I find. Staying power is a HUGE plus in my book 🙂

At the ROCK ON event Napoleon also let us play with his new Better Off Red Collection which is “A Collection that Celebrates the Classic.” Napoleon has revamped red lips with a new line of seven lip colors that come in different textures and hues. The collection consists of  a lip palette, three different lip glosses (two of which I consider more like liquid lipsticks and one self-adjusting clear gloss), three lipsticks each a different shade of red, and a red nail color called Red Corvette.

Swatched above (left to right) are: Undercover Red Lip Gloss which is the self-adjusting gloss that morphs into your own shade of red, Lady In Red which is a bright red with a satiny finish and Front Row Red which is a long-lasting, dark red color with a matte finish both of which contain nourishing ingredients for your lips!

I fell in LOVE with Front Row Red… My new fav red lip color 🙂

A quick color swatch of the Red Corvette nail color

The Better Off Red Collection will launch August 1, 2011 at Napoleon Perdis Concept Stores, Dillard’s and Von Maur department stores and www.napoleonperdis.com.

“I’ve crafted a collection of red lip shades for all skin tones and ages to prove that red can be anyone’s color – no excuses!” – Napoleon Perdis

Just a few photos from the event! Had lots of fun with the ladies of Napoleon’s team 🙂
