Beauty of the day: Pretty in Pink

I don’t know about you, but I’m obsessed with the pale pastel pink trend ever since I saw it on Carolina Herrera‘s Spring Summer 2016 runway at New York Fashion Week. So why not add a touch of pink to your beauty look? Check out my Pretty in Pink look of the day.

    maybelline-pink-story

    Eyes:

I used the new Maybelline New York The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette in Blushed Nudes – I used the shimmery baby pink all over my eyes, then added some of the darker burgundy around the crease. Then I lined my eyes with Eyestudio Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Pencil in Sleek Onyx and blended it with a dark, shimmery burgundy for a soft smokey look. To finish it off, I added Ever EZ Lash Multipack by KISS in 03.

    Lips:

Carolina Herrera’s girls had a soft matte pink, but for this look I wanted to try something different. I put foundation over my lips and then added a swipe of Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Gloss Shimmers in in Tickled Pink. It’s super sheer and has a bit of a glimmer to it for a frosty edge – to make it a little less pre-school girly.

    Nails:

Of course I couldn’t get away without doing my nails to match this look! I’m wearing Essie nail polish in Hi Maintenance. It’s super sheer and adds a soft touch of pink to complete the look!

And voila! What do you think of my pink beauty look? Would you try it? What other looks are you inspired to do?

    NYFW: Mara Hoffman Backstage Beauty

There were only 2 hours to runway time and models are seated in place for their full beauty transformations. In order to bring Mara Hoffman’s Fall/Winter 2015 inspiration to life, each individual had to rotate around the room, moving from CATWALK by TIGI hair care section to the wall of Maybelline’s make-up artists and finally to ZOYA where each model gets freshly manicured nails before being fitted for showtime.

This year, Hoffman’s collection was inspired by Luke Skywalker. Thomas Osborne, creative director of Hair by Catwalk by TIGI

explains his take on the look. “We created dual textures – there’s a tightness on the top and then a 70’s looseness towards the bottom of the braids. We let the braids take on its own life. Especially in this time of year, when you’re out in the cold and wearing a hat, your hair comes out in this fresh looseness and we wanted to embrace that.”

IMG_20150214_132229_1Osborne assures me that having very long hair was unnecessary. If your hair isn’t this long, it becomes more important to use great hair product.” The two products used to create this look includes CATWALK by TIGI’s

    1) The Bodifying Spray, which prepped the hair for the hair for the braid. and

    2) The Session Series Work It Hairspray to set the look.IMG_20150214_131843

This year’s nail design was free-flowing, using vegan-friendly nail polish brand, ZOYA. “You paint from light to dark and there are no straight lines to paint. You can use the brushes already in the bottle and you can go on an angle down the nails.”

In this look, there are a total of 5 colors. The only satin color is the pink color, called Brittney. All of the other colors come from the ZOYA collection and you can switch out colors as you desire. Inspired by the sand and sunrise of Luke Skywalker’s planet, Lottie, the Creative Director of Maybelline applies a golden bronze to the eye. She finishes with a little bit of darkness to give it a soft, modern edge of today’s woman. The skin is left very dewy, natural and fresh.

Bold Looks with @Maybelline Master Glaze Facestudio Blush Stick

Maybelline New York has three new blush sticks that I am so excited to try.

These Face Studio Master Glaze blush sticks are GLISTENING.  How to wear them? With confidence, and choose one – eye or lip to be minimal to set this look off perfectly. Think they are too bright and not wearable? They are sheer actually with a medium amount of pigment, it is not that scary but make sure you do have good lighting in your bathroom AND check again in natural light to avoid a clown face!!

Here are some great examples I found in Pinterest that may inspire you.

    Hint of Lip: Soft colors

There is a new breed of lippies in town and they are kissable, sheer and so easy to apply that you don’t even need a mirror. More than a lip balm, less goopey as glossy and less tricky than lipstick. They are not tints and they definitely make me smile. They are great for a natural look which is very in style for spring and summer. Everyday wear is absolutely recommended for colors like these.

    DSCN4209Here are my top picks.

1.Everyday Minerals You Pierce My Soul & Love Birds ($6.99):

DSCN4208A wearable shade of berry, this lip shade easily translates from day to night. Sumptuous and sweet, Everyday Minerals hand crafted this hue with rich Amazonian butters like Cupuacu and Murumuru, the finest Jojoba Oil, French Lavender essential oil, and hints of Sweet Orange to pamper your lips like never before!

    2. Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter ($6.49) Strawberry Shortcake

Buttery balm with beautiful shiny color to give you baby soft, healthy glowing lips on the Revlon site they say that 94% of women felt lips were softer, smoother, and instantly hydrated! They are unscented and unflavored but they do have juicy names. 20 shades available.

    3. Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer $5.00

Nourishes and moisturizes lips with Vitamin E and Beeswax. It is also enriched with Sunflower and Coconut Oils and has Peppermint flavor. I love the skinny tubes and it comes in 12 shimmering shades.

    4. Maybelline Color Whisper by Color Sensational ($5.94)

So perfectly slippery – Pure color pigments suspended in a weightless gel. There are no oils or waxes. I am totally love with these gel colors. I promise you these colors look good on everyone. There are 20 shades

    New @Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam

I have been using Maybelline’s Dream Matte Mousse foundation for a very long time. Being a beauty blogger, I have to opportunity to use and try a ton of products and foundations and this Maybelline seem to work best for my skin type and looks the best in photos. The texture it gives my skin is flawless, matte with a soft glow. Having a ‘go-to’ product makes your beauty routine and packing when traveling much easier!

When I saw the new renditions of this product like the liquid and now the foam I had to test it out. The Dream part is definitely real but this foam business is another story. You must work really quickly as soon as you pump it out of the bottle. Or the air will make it a sad blob. It comes in 12 shades to get 2 or 3 just to be safe.

As you can see the coverage is sheer and it looks extremely natural and blends easily into your skin without looking ‘fake’. I use the Honey Beige (darker) in the summer and the Pure Beige (lighter) in the winter. It is lightweight enough for you to wear over your moisturizer or even a primer.

It is a cool product once you get the hang of how to use it!  I got it for under $12 at a drugstore so it is definitely a steal.
