    HCB #12:Pink velvet cake?

I expected Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland movie to have all kinds of goodness! Just like a yummy piece of birthday cake. Great flavor, texture, delish icing, and oh the excitement from blowing those candles out is so exhilarating! (although it seems that once people are past or approaching 30, they don’t want candles on that cake anymore… WEIRD)

So, I saw Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland a couple days ago and was sooooooooooooooooooo unimpressed. And I mean unimpressed in the real sense, not a twisted wonderland idea that being un-impressed is just another way of saying you are impressed… sorta like the Happy u-birthday. Lol
Anyway, I’d been holding off from watching it when it was released in order to build up the anticipation, so you can imagine how amped I was to see it after it had been on the scene for a couple days.

This movie was like, finally hooking up with a long time crush and he’s a BAD kisser, TERRIBLE at foreplay, and in need of some SERIOUS Pipe skills! ARGH!
I had really high hopes for this movie, as it’s been a childhood favourtite, and I have to admit that I’ve watched several times in my adult life too (okay MANY times), so I was expecting to be wowed outta my seat. Instead I found myself dosing off a couple (most) times, WTF??? The whole movie just led to her slaying the Jabberwocky… *snore*  um there’s a fantastic story behind Alice in Wonderland, so I don’t get why they slacked on the story line; focusing on all that 3D crap, leaving us with a shitty shitty movie.
IT SUCKED ASS! I give the movie 2 stars for the cool 3-D effects, and a BIG FAT ZERO for everything else. It could’ve been more trippier, creepier, and MORE MAGICAL. I’m jus sayin… and I know I’m not the only one lol… did you like it?
    Happy Unbirthday!!
    *BIG fat kisses!*

ps: I used a traditional red velvet cake recipe, with some special twists of my own, piped on some Cream cheese icing and I was good to gooooo!

HCB #9: When I’m too lazy to cook…

This is what happens when I’m too lazy to cook. A packet of noodles, some shrimp, veggies, abracadabra *tosses ingredients around*

    et voila!

It was really yummy, and really filling; the veggies definitely did the trick… the shrimp didn’t hurt either lol.
This meal is perfect for days when you want something tasty, but don’t have the energy to do the whole cooking thing;  it didn’t take me more than 6 minutes to make this…
    stay blessed,

    HCB #8: Sweet Hoisin Wings

I loved this! The celery and green peppers offered a freshness and crisp texture to these sweet SAUCY wings! It was definitely finger- to- elbow licking-lip smacking GOOD!

Wings go great with crudités but, I only had celery and green pepper so I had to make magic with limited ingredients. Lucky for me I LOVE both vegetables so I wasn’t worried.
    B’s Crudités Salad:
Chopped celery and green pepper into miniature matchsticks
    Dried cranberries,
    Garlic/Peppercorn vinaigrette
Toss em all together, and voila!
Did you know? Crudités are traditional French appetizers comprising of sliced or whole raw vegetables which are dipped in a vinaigrette or another dipping sauce. Crudités often include celery sticks, carrot sticks, bell pepper strips, broccoli, cauliflower, and asparagus spears.

    The wings:
5 chicken wings cut in two
    Garlic-chopped finely
    Ginger-chopped finely
    Secret spice blend
    Rice wine vinegar
    Hoisin sauce
    A lil sugar for love!
Did you know? Despite the literal meaning of “seafood,” Hoisin sauce does not contain fish. Traditionally, Hoisin sauce is made using sweet potato.
    Happy cooking!

    HCB #7: Diner Food?

There was a DEMAND for burgers and wings this past week, so although I didnt wanna do another burger post, I figured you also didn’t mind seeing a juicy stuffed stuffed burger! They look so delicious when the cheese starts to ooze outta them… mmm yum!

Instead of just regular wings, I got a little playful and made coconut/panko crusted spicy wings!

    Nice and Golden!

This meal reminds of the sinful delicious food you find at a diner; a combination of all the what-not-to-eats, prepared ever so deliciously! Lol. However, seeing as I’m all about taking care of this temple that is my body, I was very careful about the ingredients I used. For example, I had cooked the burgers in the oven instead of frying them, I also used a low fat/low calorie vinaigrette and everything else in serious moderation without skimping out on the good stuff! Besides burgers are GREAT coz their “not good for you” so I wasn’t tryna have some low fat tasteless burger lol…No sir.

    HCB #6: Lasagna Tart?

It was cold and wet outside, and after skipping over puddles on my way home from class, I was kinda starving… okay I was really starving lol, yes I admit, I’m guilty of sometimes skipping breakfast *ugh* Anyway, I wanted something warm and hearty, but not heavy. So I went with a classic Italian dish; Lasagna.

Pause. I know what you’re thinking; lasagna is pretty friggin’ heavy, but I was determined to make a healthy TASTY lasagna. I decided to leave out the béchamel sauce, but I was confident it would be yummy all the same. And because I always like to keep things interesting, I decided to do a lasagna tart!

    it’s a beast! Lol
    The ingredients:
    Fresh marinated Groud beef
Home made pasta dough- for lasagna pasta sheets
    Low-fat Ricotta cheese
    Marble cheese
    Parmesan cheese
    Home-made tomato sauce
Butternut Squash (I the delicateness of this vegetable)
I seasoned my dough with some oregano for a lil more sexiness 🙂
Rolling these out was quite the work out lol, I don’t like using machines… I prefer to use my hands 🙂
circle sheets for my lasagna tart…
    mmm butternutsquash!
before getting acquainted with the oven…
Next time, I think I’m gonna do something with chicken and spinach…
    Ciao!
