NAILS BY KISS – NYFW SS19 – Christian Siriano

Inspired by the perfect Hawaiian dream vacation, Christian Siriano’s Spring 2019 Collection brings the spirit of the island to life with bold tropical and animal prints, playful brights and textured details. The show transformed New York City’s Gotham Hall into an avant garde paradise.

“I wanted the collection to feel playful, colorful, bright and romantic with femininity but still powerful and exciting,” notes Siriano. Lead Manicurist for KISS Products, Inc., Gina Edwards, transported models to Siriano’s fantasy locale by creating an exotic nail look for the show using the imPRESS Press-On Manicure Medium Length Nails in Black as a base. Edwards then used the KISS Nail Artist Paint in Gala to create a multi-dimensional zebra-like effect.

“Everything about Christian Siriano’s Spring/Summer 2019 Collection felt fresh and fun, so I wanted to play off of that with an abstract nail,” said Edwards. “I dubbed this nail the ‘twisted zebra,’ a modern take on the animal print trend.”

CHRISTIAN SIRIANO Is Officially Launching A Bridal Line with Kleinfeld

Scan 258

Christian Siriano has officially launched a bridal collection for Kleinfeld, and it is absolutely stunning. He displayed all 27 pieces of the collection during his bridal runway show, and they were all gorgeous.

“I took inspiration from true romanticism for this bridal collection this season. I was inspired by the impressionist paintings of Monet and Degas, vintage French art nouveau tapestries, and interiors in the south of France. I wanted the collection to feel light, ethereal, and romantic, but powerful and sexy.
My sister was a ballet dancer growing up, and I was always captivated by the movement and fluidity of dance. This inspired some of the silhouettes in the collection. The Christian Siriano bride is classic but playful, and loves to lose herself in a dream fantasy world. This informs her choice of dress for her very special day.”

“For our first [bridal collection], I felt like there should be something for every bride because we have every bride. We have 20-year-olds, we have 60-year-olds, we have petite, plus size, we have every woman. So I was trying to give her elements from everything. I thought that was really important.” Gowns range from $3,500 to $10,000, and will be available in petite and plus sizes as well.

Siriano’s new collection will be available next spring at the Kleinfeld Bridal boutique.

Christian Siriano Fall 2016

Christian Siriano Fall 2016

February 13th, 2016

My Fall/Winter 2016 collection was first inspired by artist Sheila Hicks’ “Art of the Yarn” exhibit. After researching her work and the idea of yarn design as a form of art, Christian Siriano became inspired by all the many different techniques of knitting and weaving in fabrications. They looked at different ways to knit, twist and manipulate fabric into pieces that had structure but were still soft and elegant. To modernize these techniques, they digitally printed knitted fibers onto silk jerseys, cottons and wool in order to capture the idea of a knit – without the process of knitting. Just as Hicks weaves textured narratives with yarn, they tried to create a collection with story progression.

This collection uses volume, texture, soft fibers, and masculine undertones in shape and silhouette. Menswear-inspired suits and tailored evening pieces balance it out. It was important to stay true to the inspiration while remaining mindful of their loyal customer and her love of femininity, and they are introducing her to a hint of tailored, Bowie-inspired androgyny.”

For spring 2014, Christian Siriano drew upon his recent trip to Isla Mujeres, the “Island of Women,” off Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula for inspiration. It is a modern yet authentic representation of the Mexican culture that is still appealing to women around the globe. The collection is a celebration of the female form as seen through a romantic lens to capture a refreshingly young vibe.

The color palette and silhouettes of the collection evolved from the architecture and bright tropical colors of the residential buildings, the crafts and handmade textiles, and the Caribbean coast. The imagery behind a fusion of grass and palm-lined huts, the terribly picturesque color blocked streets and intricate stonework in the town created a base foundation for the clothing’s shapes.

Prints were sparked by the traditional abundance of the dahlia, creating a reoccurring floral pattern. There are day separates in vibrant prints paired with raffia textiles, and soft elegant organzas for evening in sand tones. This collection, like the stimuli of the island, is dramatic and powerful in the lightest way possible.
