An evening with Penicullus Bellum part one

Last night myself and many others attended the Penicullus Bellum Fall/Winter 2011 presentation at the spoke club on King. There was music, food, drinks, and everybody was chatting, laughing, smiling, hugging; it was so awesome. It was nice to run into some familiar faces, with the highlights of the night being the fashion show of course, not to mention all the new people that I met and now love!

A little about Penicullus Bellum: The line is described as a young avant-garde outerwear line for both men and women, and it’s defined by detailed design and construction. The line is locally designed and produced in Toronto and strives to maintain a high standard of artistry and luxury in the Canadian design world. The brains behind Penicullus Bellum, are design duo Partricia O’Connor and Claire Warwick, who quickly became friends while studying at the Academy of Design in Toronto. For more info on Penicullus Bellum, visit their website. Time for some pictures!!

Many many thanks to the ladies of Penicullus Bellum and Gail McInnes for putting together such a great presentation last night.

    peace, love and health

    Music eh! Peter Jackson

    Toronto MC- Peter Jackson
Peter Jackson is a Toronto-based MC, is today’s Music eh! feature. and he recently premiered his new music video for “Miss Right” featuring Sizzla Kalonji. This is the first song I’ve heard from Peter Jackson, and it’s definitely made a good impression on me. His delivery is smooth and almost hypnotic… Sizzla is always on point, so this was definitely a good collabo. I think they did an awesome job on the video, and the ending is too funny. lol

    I dig it.

Have you heard of Peter Jackson before? Any favourite tracks by him? What do you think of his new song/video?
Need more “Miss Right”? Get it on iTunes NOW.

    ela by ela

Are you familiar with Ela by Ela? I recently found out about designer Ela Kowalewska through Charise from Kaeru, and now it’s time for you to get to know her 🙂

I like this, but I’d love it in a bright colour!

Introducing the first capsule collection by Ela Kowalewska. The idea behind the collection is “humble luxury where refined and sophisticated silhouettes strive to showcase, rather than upstage the wearer.” The collection consists of a predominantly neutral palette that is complemented by bright hues of smaller items of the collections.

Click here to see more colours!

So what do you think? Like it? Love it? Not so much?

Thanks to Charise from Kaeru Communications for sharing this with us!

    peace, love and health.

Music eh! On my own preview

I met SOUL last summer, and we hit it off immediately. Such a cool guy, so funny, and totally talented. I was so impressed by how passionate he was about his craft, and his unwillingness to be grouped into any categories as far as producing music goes, that I had to interview him. We got to listen to some of his work, as well as find out a little bit about what makes the man that is SOUL tick. Which is why I was so excited to get some of his new work in my inbox this weekend.

“On my own” is Vancouver-based rapper LAZE-E’s first single off the LAZE-E’s-MUGGER Therapy mixtape which is set to be released soon. The track features JRDN, and was produced by Mr. SOUL himself. We only get to hear a little bit of the song, but by the sound of it; SOUL definitely didn’t disappoint, and neither did LAZE-E or JRDN. I think this was a great collaboration, a very nice mix of talents, can’t wait to hear the whole song! Canada, you make me so proud.
Thanks to SOUL for sharing this with us.
What do you think of the song so far?
    peace, love and health

    Music eh! Negar

For this segment of Music eh! I bring you Negar. Thanks for sharing this with us girl!

    About Negar:
“My whole life has been dictated by my surroundings. I was born in Tehran, but had to leave at an early age because of war and revolution. I grew up splitting my time between Abu Dhabi and Canada. This obvious divide between cultural traditions, and most importantly, the wide spread repression I witnessed throughout the Middle East sparked a desire to explore myself creatively, which led me to music.”– Negar

Check out her first EP on her bandcamp, and you can also download the song “A Woman” for FREE (I like this song ). Her music video for “Faceless, Nameless” which was featured in the upcoming film “Bluebird” is also online, so check that out.
There’s something about her voice that I love… so far I’m digging the song “One Minute”, what do you guys think about Negar?

    peace, love and health
