@BuyArtNotKids Media Preview at @CBC
We were recently invited to the Buy Art Not Kids (B.A.N.K.) Media Preview over at CBC studios. B.A.N.K. returned for its annual fundraising event in support of Ratanak International; a Canadian charity that rescues and rehabilitates child sex trafficking victims in Cambodia. The artwork set to be featured at the fundraiser on April 4th will feature the work of over 30 acclaimed Canadian artists and 14 senior students from Havergal College, where the event will be held.
My favourite piece!
“The Idea: Art can build up, or tear down; it can raise hope or trigger devastation. It communicates truth, or spreads lies. The ability for art to powerfully evoke such things has been noted throughout the centuries. But can art really change the world? Without acting on it, the change that art points us towards is lost. Art itself cannot change the world, but art can change people. And people can change the world! The B.A.N.K. (Buy Art Not Kids) Art Auction will celebrate the connection between art and its call-to-action by showcasing ‘art that inspires’.”
Rachelle and I :): B.A.N.K. was founded in 2011 by Rachelle and Stephen Kearns. As a mother of two she is highly motivated to take the compassion she feels and create tangible change.
