    Celebrate #EarthDay With @AVEDA

Since 1999 Aveda has raised over $32M to help support organizations that directly affect environmental change. More than $26M of that amount has supported clean water projects at home and around the world. While lighting a candle may seem like a simple gesture, throughout April 2014 – known as Earth Month here at Aveda™— it will do far more than just set a mood or scent a room; it will help change lives. Last year our Earth Month efforts raised a total of $5.5 million for Clean Water and set a Guinness World Record for the Most Money Raised for Charity Through Haircuts in a 24 Hour Period during our Global Cut-A-Thon. And we are aiming to up the Earth Month ante to $6 million this year. Throughout April we will donate 100% of the suggested purchase price of our limited edition Earth Month Light the Way™ Candles (based on $12 SRP) to Global Greengrants Fund, a non-profit organization that channels high-impact grants to grassroots groups working to solve pressing environmental problems.  Total sales of the candle will raise over $1.6 million for clean water projects around the globe.

The images on this year’s Light the Way™ Candle carton were drawn by children living in the Umbari  village who benefited from a grant supported by Aveda and Global Greengrants Fund to AWARD (Action for Women in Rural Development)  to improve the local water system. The illustrations express the joy that having easy access to clean water has brought to their lives: clean water for people, plants and animals.

A few weeks ago Mary-Louise Parker visited the Aveda Institute on Spring Street in NYC to show her support for Aveda Earth Month 2014 clean water initiatives.

Dance Dance for a Spring Beauty Look with @Aveda and @lolavlashes

    aveda

I recreated the Aveda Culture Clash 2014 Make Up look from their make up tutorial video 🙂 I used the Aveda petal essence™ single eye color in SEAFOAM and AQUARMARINE. I didn’t love the packaging (looks like a sample to me in plastic clamshell) but I did love the pigmentation, staying power and how silky smooth it glided on my eye. It is flower and wax infused so perfect for spring.aveda2

To set off this flirty look, do a double braid on top of you head and use light weight lashes from Lola V lashes in Vanity.

New @Aveda Spring Culture Clash Collection

    image007

Janell Geason, Aveda Global Artistic DirectorMakeup drew her inspiration for the Culture Clash makeup collection from the colors and textures of different cultures around the world. The end result is a global palette of universal hues that works on all skin tones and makeup looks that are as earthy and exotic as they are street smart and chic. “Culture Clash has a distinct boho vibe with a futuristic flair,” Geason says. “For makeup, this means pairing natural, earthy tones like warm coppers and fleshy nudes with a pop of vivid color, for a look that feels fresh and pretty yet sophisticated.”

    New Do, New Hue

So a few days ago.. i was thinking man my hair’s getting really long!

A year ago (2008 April) I did the ABA in Toronto with Paul Mitchell and went from
    this:

    to this!!

Cutting my hair short has be so liberating! You have to try it at least once in your lifetime. Then throughout the year, I experimented with Reds and Blondes

Anyway… I was at Aveda today from 9am-5pm.. We did some color correction and brought my hair to a level 8 blonde…

then to a desert storm ash

    I think I love it!

Being a hair model is NOT for:

    • someone who clings on to their hair to define their look/personality style
    • someone is is afraid of change and will cry if something goes not exactly as planned
    • anyone anxious or timid
    • someone who has no hair, hair/scalp disease, severely damaged hair

Being a hair model is for:

    • someone who is broke & fabulous (hello, recession?)
    • someone who wants to help hair styling students practice on real people
    • a confident person who is versatile and likes to switch up their look
    • someone who is tired of having the same hair style since 9th grade

As long as you have an open mind and want to have a top grade hair cut & color for (free!)… do what I do! If you have any questions, ask me!

If you want to be a hair model, participate in hair shows and take your look from a ‘Idaho’ to a ‘NYC’…
