    Meet Melissa Anglomania

    Jellies meets stilettos, meets Vivienne Westwood, meets strawberry shortcake?

    There are few times that a girl will meet a pair of shoes that appeal to all of her 5 senses… ladies, meet Melissa Anglomania!

    After a routine hair cut on the Danforth, I thought I’d pop into one of my favorite shops ‘Balisi‘… after all, Spring Trend Report was just around the corner and while I had an incredible dress from Brazen‘s newest collection (courtesy of Amanda Brugel at The Red Carpet Room), I didn’t have anything to complement my toes! And… there they were!!! I saw them and as though I could hear them chant my name I didn’t hestitate for a moment to request my size and try them on… they felt like a squishy, stiletto dream! As I posed in the mirror, the hipster behind the counter explained that Vivienne Westwood did a colabo with Melissa shoes to create the “Anglomania” line and that this gorg pair was a part of the collection, she told me to “take a sniff”… and while this took me aback, I did only to find the gorg, nostalgic scent of old skool strawberry shortcake dolls! “I’ll take ’em” I said, and it was as easy as that!
    A match made in Jellie stilettos – designed by Vivienne Westwood – that smell like strawberry shortcake HEAVEN!!!

    Procuring the perfect outfit for EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. of the week can be exhausting, right? The Red Carpet Room challenges industry insiders to stop talking about Canadian fashion and start wearing it, proving that we can indeed remain fabulously chic and ferociously patriotic, every. single. day. of the week.


    THE INSIDER: HILARY WEAVER
    18-year-old Canadian rising pop artist Hilary Weaver recently released her debut CD Tell The Next Girl. She wrapped up 2009 with the award for Best Female Vocal for her single We’re Smokin’ Hot at the 2009 Hollywood Music in Media Awards. Hilary also beat out 10,000 aspiring artists at the Download Music Awards to be recognized as a Top 10 Finalist for the British Music Week’s Rising Star 2009 Award. Hilary’s talent landed her a performance at the awards in London, England where she performed alongside musicians from the US, Ireland, Italy and Portugal. Hilary is no stranger to television as her hit single Put Your Hands Up aired on Degrassi: The Next Generation. Coming up, you can find Hilary in Disney’s Camp Rock 2, airing this summer. This is all just the beginning for this talented young artist as she continues to work on her music and performing.

    LG Toronto Fashion Week – Day 1

    Yay! It’s Fashion Week!

    A lot of changes since last year – The venue is new!  Toronto Fashion Week is held at the spacious and modern Allstream Center. 

    This is by CNE and kinda far from downtown. Bah.

    I miss the tents on Queen Street though 🙁  But, not to despair because with change comes learnings.  The set up included key sponsors like LG, Barbie, MADE furniture, L’Oreal, etc… and the set up includes a lounge area, a full bar, an ultra VIP area, a shopping area and some photo opps. 

     

    Something about the hustle and bustle of the ‘tent’ I really miss. Sigh. 

    The PR powerhouse that usually runs TO Fashion Week (Brill) is out of the picture and Rocket PR is now (mis)handling the situations.  Just from random gossip, we hear that designers were not recognized by the volunteers, sponsors were not being sat in proper seats etc etc.

    Do you care about sitting front row? I am impressed already by their scuba-ness.

    My favorite part was of the entire set up is the dress up Barbie interactive station! 

    I even saw 2 of my favorite BloggerBarbies lol.

    Red Carpet Room

    All the buzz around Red Carpet Room is totally amazing. I was so happy to get this email today featuring one of my favorite Camera Ready Femmes!  She is definitely a favorite here at HeyDoYou. I heart Meghan and so should you. I first met Megs when we worked together at the Stylus DJ Awards, Kinder Bueno Bars x Town Shoes and a whole slew of amazing promos.

    A rising Canadian talent, Meghan Heffern is no stranger to the big or small screen. She recently was featured alongside Liam Neeson in Atom Egoyan’s newest work “Chloe,” which premiered at TIFF 2009 and opens in theatres this March. The Edmonton born sweetheart channels her contagious enthusiasm in a recurring role as the head cheerleader in Spike TV’s new comedy series Blue Mountain State, which follows the antics of three college football stars. A leading role in Season 2 of Disney’s Aaron Stone follows next and later this year, Meghan can be seen in the upcoming horror movie The Shrine in which she stars alongside Aaron Ashmore.
