Stylin’ in all kinds of ways at @LotusLeafStyle #pressdays

    IMG_2968

We hung out at the Lotus Leaf semi-annual Press Days event this past week, and got to see the fall/winter 2014 collections from some of our favourite brands, all while enjoying delicious treats and drinks! Check out some of my favourite pieces from the brands that were featured below. I warn you, I kind of went crazy in the Dr. Martens section, there were just too many great shoes, and I need all of them!

You may have many reasons to wear a dress. The question is, does your dress have many reasons to be worn? Buying a ball gown, for example, is great if you attend a lot of black tie events, but what if you want a dress that will not be buried in your closet most of the year? A midi dress, which is a dress long enough to extend beyond your knees without touching the ground, can often work as semi-formal wear and double as a casual outfit for friendly gatherings. Just make sure the dress you choose compliments your body. For example, a waistline tied with a sash and some high heels can help you look taller. A longer midi dress with no heels is better when you are tall and want to draw attention away from your height.

@AvonInsider Calling! The Signature Collection has been unveiled!

Avon calling! Some of us only know Avon as the door-to-door cosmetics giant, but this incredible brand has just gone from strength to strength, year after year, with its fab line of cosmetics, perfumes, footwear, and fashion. And with celebs like Reese Witherspoon, Fergie, Salma Hayek, and even designer Diane von Furstenberg partnering up with the company, Avon is just getting bigger and better. Oh, and another reason I have major love for Avon — this company goes above and beyond with issues relating to women, such as their Breast Cancer Crusade and Speak Out Against Domestic Violence programs.

Avon has just released their Signature Collection! After 40 years in the archives, the 4A monogram (a symbol of Avon’s heritage), is making it’s long-awaited debut! In the 60’s and 70’s, Avon featured this monogram on evvvverything, from product packaging to makeup fashion accessories. The four A’s in the iconic logo symbolized the dedicated Avon representative motto: “Anytime, Anywhere, Always, Ask.”

    The Signature Collection:

The Mailyn Tote ($39.99) and the Mailyn Wallet ($19.99) both feature the iconic Avon monogram, with a charming 4A logo tag/embellishment on the front. What do I love about the tote? Having worked in the handbag industry, I know a good tote when I see one and Avon has no doubt put in a lot of time and energy to get this handbag at the level it is. I love the handbag’s relaxed feel, its contrast straps (and the thoughtful buckle detail), as well as the roomy interior — you can place all your daily essentials in here. The wallet is just as neat. I LOVE the size of this wallet. I’m not a huge fan of small wallets and this one is the perfect size for taking out on its own or just throwing into the tote at a moment’s notice. The wallet is choc-full of organizational pockets and 6 credit card slots.

Love the contrasting colors, love the high quality and definitely loving the Avon prices. Treat yourself to these sweet pieces or grab them for your BFF. Avon is also the best place to pick up gift sets for the holidays — just go to Avon.com or contact your local Avon rep.

    @bellajcandles Collection Launched In NYC!

This week there was a very special cocktail party to attend in NYC—and there wasn’t a diplomat in sight (New Yorkers will know the pain of the annual U.N. General Assembly coming to town!). It was the launch party of bella j. And no partygoer was left disappointed—there was food, custom-made cocktails and, of course, bella j.’s cute, quirky and incredible candle collection to check out!

    bellaj

If you haven’t heard of bella j., here’s the rundown: it’s a cool collection of colorful (and delicious!) smelling candles with jewelry hidden inside! Each soy wax candle has a hidden charm within the candle, and as the candle burns, your jewelry is uncovered in a protective foil shell! Pretty, cool, right?

Well that’s not the coolest part! Here it is: Each charm ranges in retail value from $10 to $450, with a few charms out there valued up to $10,000! Ten grand, people! But don’t stress if you’re not one of the lucky 10K winners—all charms are gold-plated, silver-plated or real diamond accessories.

    bellajcharms

The candle scents are amazing and range from sparkling citrusy blends to freshly-baked cookies and bella j. only ever uses 100% soy wax to make their candles so it’s all-natural, nontoxic and nonhazardous.

Each candle retails for under $25 at the bella j. online boutique, where you can also pick up matching notebooks to jot down your thoughts.

What She Wore: Recap of @WMCFashionWeek #ootd

    IMG_20130416_234917

I get really excited and frustrated when World MasterCard Fashion Week comes around, because I have no clue what to wear lol. I’m excited for all the fashion goodness, but when it comes to dressing myself, I’m a total wreck. This season, I did what I always do, BRIGHT COLOURS. I figured people won’t really notice how nice, or not so nice your outfits are, when there are nice and bright colours to distract them lol. So my approach this season was keep it simple, and O.D. on lots of colour, prints and head wraps. As for my make-up, I chose to keep that simple as well; clean face, winged eyes, and a burgundy lip. I planned on wearing my fro out this season, but the weather was crazy honey, so that wasn’t happening! Here’s what I wore during 5 of some of the the most fashionable days in Toronto 🙂

    DAY ONE

    PicsArt_1363661991401

I had just gotten off work, and I was exhausted. It was cold outside, and I was feeling blue… I was also late so I had to think quickly lol

Headwrap: H&M | Dress and Earrings: Forever21 | Vintage Blazer: Black Market | Shoes: Jessica Simpson | Bangles: Costa Blanca

    DAY TWO

    PicsArt_1363749418174

The mustard and the camo headwrap just seemed like a good idea… and as long as the colours were popping, I was cool with it 🙂

Headwrap: Holt Renfrew | Vintage Blazer: Black Market | Dress: H&M | Shoes: Aldo

    DAY THREEPicsArt_1363833871631

I had the day off and the chance to take a long and glorious nap, so I was feeling more fashion week-y on day three! Plus, this jumpsuit was TIGHT when I first bought it, so you can only imagine the JOY I felt, when I put it on and it fit! I had to rock it!

Headwrap: It’s a pashmina 🙂 | Vintage Jumpsuit: Black Market | Shoes: BCBG MAXAZRIA | Bangles: A market in Accra, GhanaPicsArt_1363833560331

The “Big Red Bow” was a hit during fashion week, and this is the first time I’d ever tied my headwrap like this. Success!PicsArt_1363921181048

I was feeling fun, flirty and girly, so this dress was a natural choice!

Headwrap: H&M | Earrings: Forever21 | Vintage Silk Dress: Black Market | Bag: Steve Madden | Wedges: AldoPicsArt_1364017287347

I really didn’t know what to wear for day five, I was tired from all the shows and events, and just needed a nap; but once I remembered that I had this dress that I bought in the UK almost a year ago, everything fell into place 🙂

Headwrap: Black Market | Earrings: Forever21 | Dress: Miss Selfridge | Shoes: Aldo

There you have it! What do you all think of my choices?

    Stay fly!

Super FUN Times: Shopping The Store with @_CostaBlanca

    IMG_20130228_185319

I got a lovely invite to “Shop The Store” from Costa Blanca recently, and finally got to go in on my day off. I haven’t been to, never mind shopped at Costa Blanca in ages, so I was pleasantly surprised to see how bright, and colourful their clothes are now, plus there’s so much selection. The Costa Blanca I remember had lots of neutral colours, pastels and a lot of the same stuff year after year. But things done changed! I saw lots of neons, floral prints, tribal prints, cute flowy skirts, colorful maxi dresses, gorgeous onesies, oh it was fantastic! Totally up my alley. Things have definitely changed for the better.

These bangles were giving me LIFE!!20130228_182611 20130228_182924

    lol the face…

After scanning the aisles (yes all of them), I finally picked a few items and went to try on different looks. After what seemed like an eternity of trying on clothes (totally not complaining, I loved it!) I finally settled on a turquoise maxi dress, a cute neon yellow sweater, and two sets of awesome bangles. The best part about it? I got to take my look home!

Thank you to Costa Blanca for having me, and for the lovely gifts! If you haven’t been to Costa Blanca in a while, I suggest you go because it has some… no A LOT of awesome and amazing stuff!

    peace and love
