Why I LOVE it: Women’s Gold

I wouldn’t know where to begin the list of the many benefits that using shea butter brings. Since my beauty/skin care detox this is ALL I have been using on my face and body, and I LOVE it! I prefer to use unrefined shea butter instead of products that claim to contain shea butter as the refining process diminishes a lot of the vitamins… No thanks. Unrefined shea butter retains ALL its natural vitamins. I’ve heard that some people don’t like the smell, but I think that they are so used to using scented products that the lack of fragrance bothers them. Poor things. It doesn’t smell like anything…

I definitely understand why it’s called “Women’s Gold”.
    Shea Butter Trivia:
♥ Shea butter is also known as karite butter, and is made from the nuts of karite trees (aka Mangifolia trees) that grow in the West and Central African regions.
♥ Destruction of the shea tree is forbidden in most parts of West Africa, as the nuts provide a valuable source of food, medicine and even income.
♥ Shea butter is sometimes referred to as “Women’s gold” as there are women that are employed in the production of shea butter.
♥ Shea butter is used to help heal burns, sores, scars, dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema, dandruff, and stretch marks. It’s an excellent moisturizer, as it promotes cell renewal, diminishes wrinkles, and increases elasticity and circulation.
♥ It also contains cinnamic acid which helps protect the skin from harmful UV rays.
♥ Shea butter also protects the skin from both environmental and free-radical damage. It contains vitamins A and E, and has also shown antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.
Why I love it? Because it’s 100% natural, it doesn’t contain any harmful toxins or ingredients, and it doesn’t cost me an arm, a leg, or my health to enjoy its benefits! Who can use it? Everyone… actually it’s not recommended for people with nut allergies. Sorry.
    peace, love and health

    Best Drugstore Sunblock!

Sun’s out guns out baby! It’s not long til the sun comes back to our lives (especially in sunny LA) so that means we need to add more protection to our daily skin care regimen. It’s always good to use sunscreen throughout the year even when it’s cloudy out but as the heat and sunny weather starts rolling in we need to increase our SPF and make sure it lasts. It really doesn’t help to apply sunscreen to have it vanish within an hour.

My absolute favorite sunscreen would have to be Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock. This sunscreen comes in a really easy to use and mess free packaging. The product is creamy and has a good consistency; not too thick but not runny so you really don’t need very much. I love that the product doesn’t turn your face white and pasty. In the spring and summer I’ll wear just the Dry-Touch Sunblock by itself or wear it as my primer/base. This is the one sunscreen that doesn’t make my skin greasy when I put it on nor does it make my makeup slide throughout the day. It has a satin to dry/matte finish which is fabulous. In the heat, I don’t need help getting the “dewy” look. I can put it on and go through my day without worrying or having to reapply. Best of all, this sunblock doesn’t have the gross sunscreen smell. I hate the smell of sunscreen and I’d hate it even more if I had to put it on my face to have it linger all day long.

This is a great product that’s under $20 at any drugstore. I’m not really sure why they have so many different SPF levels but they start from SPF 30 to 100+ so any of them would provide good protection. Sunscreen is something we should use everyday whether you’re young, old, men, women, children, etc. This one’s perfect for all!

    Jeffrey Campbell Clinics

First stop in Edmonton is… West Edmonton Mall! Went to my favourite Canadian shoe store Browns and copped me some Jeffrey Campbell Clinics. The best thing about going to a city like Edmonton, is that these can sit on the sale rack and no one will have the fashion sense to grab em. More for me. 🙂

    Can’t wait to rock these…
