    No Wimpy Wines

“Canadian wine consumers have discerning tastes… They know good wines when they find them, and at Ravenswood we make good wines.”- Joel Peterson

It was super sunny yesterday; perfect weather for the Ravenswood Wine and Food tasting experience. “Rebel” winemaker Joel Peterson (The Godfather of Zin), treated us to a wide selection of his bold and “unapologetic” wines, while Celebrity Chef Rob Rainford served up some seriously good food!  Canadian Rock Star Ian Thornley also debuted songs from his upcoming acoustic album, while we sipped wine and chowed down!

Wine. Food. Music. Sunshine. Good times.

Thank you so much for inviting the HeyDoYou team!

    peace, love and health

    ♥Bella♥

Have you ever had any of the Ravenswood wines? What do you think?

    Congrats Beckhams, It’s A Girl!

At 7:55AM on Sunday, July 10th, Victoria Beckham gave birth to a healthy girl of 7 lbs and 10 oz. at the Cedars-Sinai hospital in LA. What do you think Posh Spice Jr. is going to be like?

Naming her baby Harper Seven, it appears that the middle name was given to her weight and time of birth. Was it a stroke of luck? Were they not expecting a daughter?

I don’t know how popular the name Harper is. All I can think of is that annoying girl in Disney‘s ‘Wizards of Waverly Place.’ Let’s hope the Beckhams’ had a better example of a girl named Harper.

What do you think of the name Harper Seven? Love it or loathe it?

Red Dragon Apparel (RDS): Vancouver-Based Underground Skater Fashion

Check out this Vancouver-based fashion line — Red Dragon Apparel (RDS)! Designed by Dave Boyce in 1998, it originated as a skateboarding line and has expanded to include a women’s line along with basics and versatile pieces. Dave tells me that RDS was actually something completely different before it turned into a fashion label. “It was something we started in 1988, myself and a few other young men. We were bored and Vancouver has a lot of rain so once it rained we didn’t know what to do with ourselves.” It was actually a little joke they kept to themselves. “We got up to mischief and blamed it off on ‘red dragons’ — a factitious gang that we made up.”

Dave spends most of his days walking around the city and people watching to gain inspiration for his line. “I look for that one person that stands out over and above everyone else.'”

Dave says, “I was dumber than i was smart — anything seemed possible to me. starting a clothing line was logical to me.” At age seventeen he knew that the skateboard industry was at a growing peak and wanted to make something happen.
Known as ‘Sluggo’s Little Brother’ (SLB), he took a different approach with his bigger brother Rob ‘Sluggo’ Boyce’s skateboarding fame. “I didn’t want to give up on skateboarding. The only way to not give up is to still be a part of industry.”

Can you believe that ‘Sluggo’ was actually named after a Canadian comic book called ‘Nancy?’ Apparently Rob looked like her boyfriend! RDS is now expanding a huge array of accessories like soap on a rope and house keys, water bottles and ice trays with the RDS logo.

Background: The Red Dragons was an underground skate crew composed of Colin McKay, Rob “Sluggo” Boyce, and Moses Itkonen in the late 80s.  After skipping classes to earn salaries as professional skateboarders, the men opened their first skateshop in 1996, RDS Skate Supply. Colin and Sluggo began a distribution house, Centre Distribution, in 1997, and Moses created the Red Dragon Apparel line in 1998.

    Klix Make Up Brushes Review

Recently, I received these awesome Klix Make Up Brushes which I think are super cool.

“Klix features replaceable, recyclable makeup brush heads, so you won’t have to spend time cleaning, rinsing, drying and reshaping your makeup brushes, only to find they never quite work the same again. And they aren’t even clean. With Klix, you can ensure flawless makeup application and protect your skin from blemish-causing bacteria. All with the click of a button.”

They currently offer these brushes with replacable applicators in a powder brush, concealer brush, and blush brush. The synthetic brush hairs were surprisingly very soft on my skin. I was skeptical about how the quality of the brush fibers would be since they are disposable, not meant for long time use, and relatively inexpensive. The bristles are white so you can see how dirty the brush gets as you use it and can replace the brush head when you feel its got too much makeup, dirt, and oil stuck in it.

With just a click on the handle, the brush head pops off and you can replace it with a new one.

I think this is a great idea since makeup brushes are probably the most bacteria-filled things we touch to our faces on a daily basis. To me, washing brushes is the biggest pain in the butt! Not to mention, washing brushes will never fully sanitize your brushes. So far, I like the brushes a lot. I don’t think I’ll be needing to replace a brush head for at least 2 months or so but it totally depends on your skin type, skin care routine, and types of product you use. Love that the quality of the brushes are pretty good and can definitely match up to my pro brushes for everyday application.

A Set of 3 brushes (powder, concealer, and blush) is $59.95. Each replacement set comes with 2 replacement heads. Powder brush replacement are $11.95 for 2, Concealer brush replacements are $9.95 for 2, and Blush brush replacements are $10.95 for 2. They’re also giving away a set of 2 disposable Kabuki brushes with the purchase of a full set! Great deal!

Overall, I think these patent-pending brushes would be a good purchase. I would recommend these especially to people with problem skin (sensitivity, acne, etc.) because a huge source of your skin issues could be from the brushes you use. No one could dare ask you to stop wearing makeup (total crime to ask that of a woman) but making sure you’re being as clean and sanitary can go a long way when it comes to beautiful skin. Besides, who doesn’t love the thought of new brushes every few months! 🙂

You can purchase these on the Klix Make Up Brushes website. Try them out and let me know how you like them 🙂

    xo, June 🙂
