Say Hello to Beautiful Hair: Wella EIMI
One of my secrets from growing long healthy hair is to cut back on washing your hair everyday. Needless to say, you will need a great Dry Shampoo. One of my new favorite brands for keeping my hair looking fresh all week long is Wella. Their EIMI styling collection molds and empowers, shapes and inspires, and lets everyone express their own, unique personality. Think of each product as a “message in a bottle” – ready to telegraph style without a single word. EIMI offers a wide range of choices for styling and three different levels of hold.
Below are a few of my favs from their latest collection:
Root Shoot Precise Root Mousse to give limp locks perfect lift right where they need it
Dry Me Dry Shampoo to help refresh your style, extend the life of your blowout, and add volume
Sugar Lift Sugar Spray For Voluminous Texture is a sweet solution for boosting body and texture, while keeping hair touchable
Perfect Me Lightweight BB Lotion to pamper tresses with restorative moisture, add shine and smoothness, and protect from heat styling damage

Finding the Perfect Pair of Sunglasses with Covry Sunwear
When I was in High School, this punk rock boy my friend was dating would teasingly say my nose looked like a “skateboard ramp” because I didn’t have a bridge. For a while after that I became super insecure about my nose. Was I weird for not having a nose that looked like all the actors that I saw on TV and the magazines? I spent a good portion of that year looking into the mirror, with my fingers in the shape of an angled L on my nose trying to imagine what my nose would look like if it were a little “bridge-ier”. I did this for hours at a time being emo listening to “Dashboard Confessional” and “Panic At the Disco” and practicing my liquid eyeliner in the bathroom.
It was only with time did I realize that most Asians like myself have little to no bridge anyway. It’s a characteristic that makes me, and all my other fellow asians intrinsically unique. That and the kid ended up dropping out of school and I realized he was just a silly teenage boy.
That is, until it gets to be a sweltering, sunny day (like today) and my sunglasses (https://www.globosurfer.com/best-polarized-sunglasses/) slide off my nose and I’m stuck pushing up my glasses like a nerd every two seconds. I think to myself, “DAMN IT. He was right all along! My nose is a skateboard ramp for sunglasses!”
HOWEVER, there is a solution! For anyone who’s ever been in a sunglass situation similar to mine, Florence Shin and Athina Wang, co founders of Covry Sunwear are launching a line of sunglasses that are specifically targeted towards problems like these! I mean, sliding sunglasses not teenage boy bullies.
Covry Sunwear, besides being super cute + stylish, have longer nose pads, narrowed nose bridge and a smaller curve of the frame. As a plus, for all you green conscious pals out there, these glasses are hypoallergenic, made from renewable resources, and made of high quality Acetate. Polarized, UV protected lenses round out these sturdy yet fashionable specs, so I’d say anyone’s momma would approve! These are a perfect for my features, and anyone who has had any trouble with contemporary sunglasses skating off their face.
These ladies have already fulfilled their KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN with an amazing$53,127, surpassing their original goal of $18,500. You can get your own pair of COVRY sunglasses this Fall by signing up for updates here. PLUS THEY SHIP FOR FREE ALL OVER THE US, AND SHIP ALL OVER THE WORLD.

A Night with the Stars @ CAPE + Verizon’s #IAM Night Out
Ciao lovelies!
This past week I was fortunate to join CAPE + Verizon’s #IAM Night Out in NYC.
CAPE, or the Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment is an incredible non profit who’s goal is to shed light on Asian American Pacifics in the media. Some of the fellows from this year include Constance Wu (aka sassy mom from FRESH OFF THE BOAT) and Youtube Sensation Joseph Vincent (You’re welcome ladies!)
The #IAM campaign was really special because it allowed these amazing self made professionals to tell the story of how they started off and how they got to where they are today. I think anyone, regardless of their heritage can relate to chasing a dream, and then with some luck and hard work, actually achieving it!
A lot of fashionistas came out to see the event. I LOVE this flowery print top paired with this solid black skirt. I also loved the unique detailing of this Indian Septum ring spotted on one of the lovely ladies from the event’s sponsor, Verizon.
The night was seasoned with some AMAZING live performances form Youtube musicians Joseph Vincent and Justin Chen and some hilarious stand up from Host/stand up comedian Paul PK Kim. Some inspiring stories also came from Yong Kim, Ted Kim, and Chris Oh, two brothers and a childhood bestie who quit their advertising jobs to start the Korean sausage company, Seoul Sausage Co. They ended up competing in Food Network’s “Food Truck Race” in season 3 and won EVERY. SINGLE. ROUND. (mic drop)
As inspiring as that was, my favorite anecdote came from Dancing With The Star’s, Carrie Ann Inaba and her very first audition for the early 90’s show, “IN LIVING COLOR“. (PS- I have no words for the dancing or outfits in this link:)
For those of you who don’t know, this is the show where JLO, “Jenny from the Block” first made her way in the spotlight. After a vigorous dance audition, creator Keenan Ivory Wayans said to Carrie, “Do you know why I chose you? You were the worst dressed person but you walked in with such confidence, I gave you the job before I even saw you dance. You were so confident, I had to drink your Kool Aid.”
So my Reading Rainbow message to you lovely folks tonight is, remember, the world isn’t about just what you wear, but also your mindset. If you believe in yourself, than maybe the rest of the world will follow suit and you’ll be one step closer to achieving your dream. Maybe it’ll be you up on stage inspiring us all one day:)
