Dressing sexy – it’s a piece of cake!

The honest reason why people find dressing sexy so hard, is that they overthink it. Before we even begin, I’m going to kick off by asking you not to take it so seriously. This is a huge obstacle in trying to get you relaxed and comfortable in what you’re wearing, and if you feel weird, you look weird. You know when you spot someone you don’t even know a mile off, and you can tell that they’re trying too hard? This is exactly what happens when you take it too seriously.

It’s about balance
Of course you want to dress well and impress people, but part of trying too hard is overstepping the very thin boundary between sexy and trashy. Wear what you love and what you feel comfortable in, but there’s no need to let it all hang out of a sexy dress in order for the outfit to be considered sexy. Self-confidence trumps all other factors, and if you don’t have that, it just won’t work.

Does it fit?
If your clothes are too big or too small – and I mean either of the two – you will, without fail, end up looking much bigger than you really are. Instead of kidding yourself, rather focus on your best feature, and wear clothing that emphasizes that! A small waist goes a long way in a sexy dress or pair of jeans with a high waistline. Mini dresses and skirts are in full trend this year, so go right ahead if you have great legs to show off!
Found something you really like, but just can’t make it fit? Let a tailor do it! This is a great way to make clothes fit you in the correct way and show off the best of you.

Don’t play open cards
If you are concerned that you might be showing too much skin, you probably are. Too much is never a good things, and overexposing yourself totally destroys any sense of mystique. Instead, pick a part of your body that you like – perhaps your legs – and showcase that. Legs not great? Pick something else. Accentuate your neckline by wearing a v-neck shirt, and remember – even casual clothes can be totally sexy. You don’t always have to dress up!

Beware of trends
Just because something is trending, doesn’t mean it’ll look good on you. That sexy dress that all the celebs are wearing might look ridiculous when you try it on, but don’t lose heart. I cannot emphasise enough that not all body types are the same! You need to figure out what you feel good in, what looks good on you and what matches your personal style, and then you need to work it. Just because someone else looks good wearing a certain dress, doesn’t mean it’s right for you. Boost what you already have with natural make-up (cakey bakey looks are WAY out) or a killer pair of heels, and you’re well into the winning side.
