Napping in the Sun with Gold Paw Series Sun Shield Tee

When we moved from New York City to Las Vegas, it was a complete opposite in concern for the weather! We had to buy all kind of boots and coats for Jacob when we lived in NYC because of the winter and here in Vegas, Cami keeping cool and sun safety is our #1 concern for her. She loves getting into the pool once it gets above 85F and the summer sun is crazy. We have to walk her at 5 am and after dark in the middle of the heat wave. Even the pavement is burning hot when it gets to over 100F here.

Before Swim season and during Spring, Cami’s favorite thing to do is to sit by the pool. She gets overheated and has to come inside. Letting her wear this Sun Shield Tee by Goldpaw Series has given her more outside time this morning! She has been so bummed since her knee surgery 🙁 I thought this will surely cheer her up! Thank you to our friends from Goldpaw Series for sending Cami this in size 28 Coral.

Sun Shield Tee Fabric – An ultra smooth, lightweight, breathable athletic jersey that features a UPF 50+ rating and blocks 98% of harmful UV rays. This is achieved through a tight mechanical weave, so sensitive skin won’t react to a chemical wash. It significantly reduces heat absorption by reflecting heat away from the body, and is efficient at wicking away moisture. A soothing and cool to the touch feel. Found in: The Sun Shield Tee

Our Sun Shield Tee is silky soft, lightweight stretch jersey with a UPF-50 rating that blocks 98% of the sun’s harmful UV rays. It is not a chemical treatment – it’s a mechanical quality of the yarn so the protection won’t diminish with washing. Super comfortable indoors and out and perfect for all sorts of applications beyond sun protection too: skin conditions, wound care, topical medications, works great as an anti-anxiety calming aid that can be worn all day.

They really reduce heat absorption too: We tested our black Lab, Luke, out in the sun with an infrared thermometer gun and found his fur was more than 40 degrees cooler under the Tee than without – it’s wearable shade! Want extra cooling? Get it wet and your pup can enjoy the evaporative cooling effect!

Recommended For: Sun protection, regulating body temperature, indoor wear, outdoor wear, protecting skin conditions or wounds, mild anxiety, increasing cuteness

Wear Tip: The center chest seam is designed to be on the outside – we want pets to enjoy maximum comfort, especially in that tender area.

Harness Help: These close fitting pullovers are perfect worn under a harness, with no adjustment needed. No fussing with ill-placed harness openings in this snuggy wonder! Plus, wearing this under a harness has an added benefit of reducing or eliminating chaffing!

Washing Instructions: Machine wash warm, tumble dry low or hang to dry.

    Proudly made in the USA!

First Time Mom – Baby Wearing Using a Wrap

So many new things to learn as a new mom and this officially marks the end of my fourth trimester! Having Niko has been amazing and learning so much with him has given me the confidence to be a good mom.  One of the best things for Niko and I is babywearing. Babywearing reduces crying by 40% and is way easier than just carrying the baby. So I really took it upon myself to learn all about babywearing.

The first type of wearing I did was with the traditional wrap style. It is a bit intimidating in the beginning with this super long cloth and how it works but if you practice a few times and you can get it right. There are 3 main types I tried so far and here are some insider tips I didn’t find anywhere on Pinterest or IG but only in doing it myself.

There are so many brands and price and designs out there but for the sake of this post, the JERSEY one I used is the Cuddly Wrap – Made in Canada. It is 100% organic cotton but it does have some stretch to it. It is longer than the Moby and it is a bit harder to go around and around your waist. But the stretch helps it keep the baby comfy.

The Cotton one I used it Moby wrap. It is thicker with not much stretch and I found this one sometimes got too hot. That when I took Niko out, my belly and his will be wet from sweat. I think Moby is the most classic one and I think the density will be great for colder days.

The Bamboo one is Beluga Baby – Made in Canada. This one is super-super stretchy and I found Niko drooping down as we walked. The trick to this one is to really stretch the fabric over your shoulder before inserting it. And to start at your chest instead of the belly like the others. I love this one for summer days since it is breathable but it is really stretchy so a lot of bounce when walking.

Wrapping is one of the fasting ways for baby to fall asleep. When we are walking Cami, Niko almost always instantly falls asleep.  I also wore him to sleep at the beginning of our co-sleeping so he won’t fall off or slide off. It worked really well and now he can sleep beside me without being on me!

Also! I tried a Ring Sling! I had it professionally sewn using a Pinterest DIY post and my own Money Fabric! I haven’t mastered the ring sling yet but more to come!
