Popular Color Ideas For Bridesmaid Dresses

Let’s all take a moment to be thankful for how far bridesmaids’ dresses have come.
From taffeta poofs in universally unflattering shades to modern, flattering fits with an
absolute smorgasbord of colors; the world of bridesmaids’ dresses has come far.
JJ’s House designer Jessica credits this with changing views in the wedding industry.
“It used to be that bridesmaids all had to look a certain way, wear a certain color, and
not detract from the bride, but now plenty of brides see the benefit in letting their
friends wear different shades in the same color family that flatter their skin, and wear
cuts that make them look and feel their best,” she says.
But plenty of brides still struggle with choosing what color they should use for
bridesmaid dresses.

To help you decide, here are five colors that JJ’s House designer Jessica recommends and why:

1. Coral
This fun, saturated color is perfect for summer weddings or destination weddings. It complements tanned skin beautifully and does a great job of making that white bridal dress pop. Turquoise jewelry is the perfect addition for coral dresses and adds a fun Southwestern vibe to the wedding. Another thing we love about coral dresses is that the color is so fun and easy to wear, that if you choose your dress style carefully, your
bridesmaid may even wear those dresses again.

2. Blush
Blush is a sweet, soft color that is perfect for any season. It works in almost any venue, from formal ballrooms to outdoor weddings, and complements a wide range of skin tones. It’s gently feminine and works well with almost any other shade that might be in your wedding. The only downside of blush is that it may not work for very pale skin tones, since it may wash them out.

3. Navy
Navy is such an easy color that it’s even considered a neutral. The deep, rich tones of navy is a gorgeous color for any fall or winter wedding. It’s an excellent backdrop for flowers and accessories and looks absolutely amazing in an outdoor setting with the turning leaves behind them. This is why we absolutely love navy dresses for outdoor fall weddings. Pair it with plaid wraps and your wedding will have a cozy feel in pictures.

4. Gray
Gray is becoming an increasingly popular color to see at weddings. Not only are we
seeing different shades of gray in wedding dresses, but it’s now very fashionable to have
gray bridesmaids’ dresses. Gray can be a perfect color for any season and works with almost any color combo. We love using gray in modern weddings that are using all white flowers since it can give the wedding party an almost ethereal feel.

5. Mint sherbet
The subtle, pastel green of mint sherbet dresses is so pretty we could almost eat it up!
This color became hugely popular a few years back and was in everything from shoes to
nail polish, but it’s hung on in the wedding industry.
Mint sherbet is a perfect color for a spring wedding since it reminds us of the tender
unfolding of new growth.
