Celebrate the National Dog Show Presented by Purina® and Help Raise Funds for Hurricane Relief by Sharing What Makes Your Pet the Best

Andy Cohen, host & executive producer of “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” and his dog, Wacha, team up to encourage pet owners to join Purina’s #DogThanking movement.

ST. LOUIS (Nov. 20, 2017) – Millions of people and pets were affected by hurricanes which struck Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico earlier this year. To help raise funds to support hurricane victims and their pets, and to help celebrate the National Dog Show Presented by Purina® and the Thanksgiving holiday, Purina invites pet lovers across the United States to share what makes their pet the best through its annual #DogThanking initiative.

Pet owners are encouraged to use Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to share what makes their pet the best by using the hashtag #DogThanking and tagging @Purina. For every unique post submitted between Nov. 16-26 that includes #DogThanking and @Purina, Purina will donate $1 (up to $50,000) to GreaterGood.org, an organization which helps provide relief for people and pets in areas affected by hurricanes and natural disaster, including Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico.

Andy Cohen and his beagle fox-hound mix, Wacha, are helping to kick off this year’s #DogThanking initiative.

“Pets truly enrich and awaken our hearts in many different ways, so it’s important to celebrate what makes each one the best,” said Cohen, host & executive producer of “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.”

“Wacha is my true companion and he is the best, especially when he falls asleep on my leg or gives me cuddles. We’re thrilled to join Purina’s #DogThanking initiative to help celebrate pets and how our lives are better together. I encourage pet owners to share their posts showing what makes their pet the best so we can raise funds for hurricane relief across the country.”

GreaterGood.org will utilize the funds raised from the #DogThanking inititave to continue working with its many partners to support the logistics of delivering high-quality food and supplies to pets impacted by recent natural disasters.

“Over the past couple months, in conjunction with amazing partners like Purina that have donated both product and funds, we’ve been able to do so much to help people and pets affected by these terrible storms,” said Liz Baker, executive director of GreaterGood.org. “But, our mission is far from complete—more help is needed. The #DogThanking initiative is a simple way pet lovers can get involved and celebrate their own pets, while helping to make a difference across the country.”

So far in 2017, Purina has donated nearly $60,000 to GreaterGood.org to support victims of hurricanes and other natural disasters, and more than 350,000 pounds of pet food to support pets in the affected areas.

The 16th annual National Dog Show Presented by Purina will premiere on Thanksgiving Day on NBC at noon in all time zones. Watched by more than 20 million viewers annually, the show will bring canine competition and entertainment to America’s viewers and crown one of America’s great dogs as its 2017 champion. More than 2,000 dogs representing more than 175 breeds will vie for Best in Show honors.

NBC will present an encore of this year’s National Dog Show Presented by Purina on Saturday, Nov. 25 (8-10 p.m. ET/PT).

Beloved TV personality John O’Hurley, best known as “J. Peterman” on Seinfeld, will serve as the show’s co-host, along with veteran dog show analyst David Frei. NBC Sports correspondent Mary Carillo will join former U.S. Olympian figure skaters Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski as National Dog Show correspondents.

CASKAI: Nature’s Silent Power

Caskai GmbH, an Austrian based producer ofartisanal Cascara-based beverages, announces its expansion to the U.S. The global brand, which got its start partnering with its sister company, Panama Varietals GmbH, importing and distributing Cascara (the dried husk of a coffee cherry), established its U.S headquarters , Caskai North America Inc.,in Davidson, N.C., as well as a satellite office in Seattle, and rolled out its first product – Caskai Sparkling Cascara Infusion.

“As consumer affinity for health and wellness continues to grow, we’re thrilled to provide craft beverage fans around the world with a distinct option that features one of nature’s most overlooked super foods front and center,” says founder Joel Jelderks. “We believe in the power and story of Cascara and are pleased to share our passion and knowledge with the world.” Catering to the rising demand by consumers for all – natural specialty beverages, Caskai Sparkling Cascara Infusion is supported by the attributes of Cascara, providing drinkers with a natural, balanced and refreshing alternative for 44 calories per bottle.

Realizing not all Cascara is the same, Caskai uses only premium, naturally sun-dried, high-altitude Cascara from arabica coffee produced in the highlands of Panama and Nicaragua. Cascara contains a full combination of beneficial nutrients that includes powerful anti-oxidants, essential amino acids, B Vitamins, Vitamin E, Potassium, essential fatty acids (Omega 3 and 6), Carbohydrates, Fiber, Protein and a natural-2-caffeine boost.

Cascara has been used in small communities for more than 1,000 years, but it’s benefits have not been widely known. Caskai aims to bring Cascara’s many benefits to consumers around the globe with the launch of its first beverage product and additional products, such as Cascara Tea that was demoed for the first time at New York Coffee Festival in mid-October. Caskai’s Cascara Tea is premium Cascara that was personally selected by the founder for its sweetness, unique flavors, and nutritional characteristics for home or office preparation.

Cascara Tea will be available in three flavors – Panama Geisha, Panama Caturra and Nicaragua Catuai – that play homage to each Cascara’s distinct coffee variety and sourced location. Cascara Tea only contains pure Cascara providing consumers with a full nutritional profile and an elusive drink experience of a coffee that drinks like a tea. As it has the beautiful package, it would be a great choice for your holiday gift ideas.

About Caskai GmbH:

Founded by Joel Jelderks, a beverage industry pioneer recognized as one of Red Bull’s early employees in the 90’s and the driving force behind Cascara getting approved as a novel food in the EU,

My Favorite From The New York Coffee Festival 2017

This year the New York Coffee Festival had over 100 innovators on-site showcasing the best in roasting, brewing, home technology, specialty drinks, and so much more! In addition, nearly 11,700 people attended the event through out the weekend, with 100% of profits being donated directly to Project Waterfall to benefit charity: water.

Here I want to introduce some of my favorite coffees!
Caskai’s Sparkling Cascara Infusion

The beverage’s ingredients are simple and naturally – derived: sun-dried, premium Cascara that is freshly brewed in spring water from the Austrian Alps, a touch of organic cane sugar, a shot of carbonation and citric acid.

Caskai’s Sparkling Cascara Infusion is packaged in a 275mL premium glass bottle that is best enjoyed cold. Caskai’s Sparkling Cascara Infusion will soon be available in Davidson and Mooresville, North Carolina through Summit Coffee and Sky Mountain Coffee, as well as online through Amazon.

The founder of Upruit started the company just over a year ago. The idea came to him while on his ski trips out west. He wanted to make coffee refreshing so that he can bring it with him on the backcountry hikes and trails. So He started mixing cold brew coffee with fresh lemonade. It did the trick! Turns out coffee and fruit juice go well together. He has since developed the recipe and introduced new flavors like Mint Grapefruit and Ginger Hibiscus. He makes small batches of the brew from scratch using real ingredients. They cold press lemons and ginger, steep mint and hibiscus and mix this with a delicious cold brew coffee. The coffee is either organic from Peru or Ethiopia depending on the flavor.
Upruit is currently sold in over 60 accounts including health food stores and gyms. The customers really enjoy the refreshing take on coffee and use it as a pick me up or for a boost at the gym. The real ingredients make a real difference!
HEARTBREAKER ESPRESSO from Cafe Grumpy

Heartbreaker is Grumpy’s signature house espresso blend and also tastes great as brewed coffee.

Current components:
Gran Galope, Cauca, Colombia
Kochere, Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia

12oz of whole beans. Cafe Grumpy‘s premium coffee beans are roasted daily at Greenpoint, Brooklyn roastery. They ship only whole bean coffee and do not grind the beans prior to shipping.  Coffee is packaged in sealed valve bags. They roast to order!
