Not only are Pebble rattles adorable and beautifully hand-crafted, but, each purchase benefits working mothers in Bangladesh. When a product I love has a story behind it, I love it even more – and this is one of those products.
Kahiniwalla, the makers of Pebble, is a business which distributes fair trade products; and Samantha Morshed’s vision has made Pebbles possible. She believes each item should be made with quality in mind.
Kahiniwalla provides rural workplaces in Dhaka where women can create creative items for children and work flexible hours to provide for their families. The alternate would be moving to work in the unsafe, unjust, and sometimes violent garment industry in larger cities. The company was established in 2010 by Austin and Marita Miller. With a background in product design, the couple decided to provide employment for the poor of Bangladesh, so, they created Pebbles high quality, handmade products and began distribution in North America.
They have a variety of products available for purchase on their website: http://kahiniwalla.com.
Each one is unique, colorful, and perfect for children.
