Ernest Alexander FW14 Menswear Fashion Presentation #MBFW @ernestalexander
The Ernest Alexander presentation kicked off Fashion Week in style at the Industria Studios.
For fall 2014, designer and founder Ernest Sabine took inspiration from board track racing, a type of motorsport that was popular in the United States during the 1910’s and 1920’s that first used wooden planks to race motorcycles on. Racers were impeccably dressed; a typical uniform included a woven shirt worn under a sweater usually paired with a classic chino tucked into riding boots. Ernest includes elements of this past uniform but with an updated, modern take.
Outerwear plays a major role for fall 2014 with a lambskin leather-racing jacket, Ernest’s take on a shearling collared flight jacket and a shawl collar wool coat. Medium to heavy weight wools make for a great set of blazers and trousers that are meant to work as mix-and-match separates within the collection. Wool trousers can also be paired with great knits, classic woven shirts and wool vests with hints of leather details that nod to the racing uniform of the time.
Colors are masculine and dark for fall. Shades of grey are a recurrent theme with pops of blue peppered in while statements of black, brown and olive are found in the leather details. Hounds tooth and plaid patterns popular of the decade are used through out. Wool ties match the collection smartly and cotton handkerchiefs add the perfect finishing to the overall look.
Classic bag styles are slightly updated and feature new front pockets and waxed glossy finishes which create a glistening sheen. The flight bag carryall is the newest shape to Ernest Alexander and comes in a dark, navy leather and waxed cotton canvas in British tan.

Event LOVE: #InTheDanceTO with @IAMYENDI
I got an invite to attend a Dancehall Fitness class a few weeks ago, and I had no idea what to expect. I’d never even heard of a Dancehall Fitness class, but I knew that there was no way I was going to miss it. AND, when you hear that the gorgeous Miss Jamaica World and Miss Jamaica Universe Yendi Phillips is flying all the way from sunny Jamaica to cold and freezing Toronto to share her work out secrets with us, there is definitely no way I was going to miss it. She recently released her fitness Dancehall video, In The Dance Fitness Jamaica and came to Toronto to tell us all about it and share some moves from her DVD to whip us into shape!
As soon as she walked in, you could feel the motivation go up by a 100%, because she has such an amazing spirit and her body is like WOAH! During her introduction she mentioned that she has a one year old, and you could hear the gasps of disbelief, because she is snactched! She also caught me staring at her mid-section in disbelief the minute she said that she just had a baby…yeah it’s FLAT like that. Needless to say we were all more than ready to try out this workout, especially because she says that majority of her fitness regime is dancing. Who doesn’t love dancing? I was so ready!
What do I think about the In The Dance Fitness Jamaica workout? It was awesome! Yendi is an amazing instructor, and the workout was so much fun. I’ve never had fun while feeling the burn, but we were all having such a good time, that we asked for more when the class was over. It was awesome! I went home hurting so good, and woke up HURTING so good. Totally worth it.
I went home and did the workout, cause I just couldn’t get enough!
Thank you Yendi for coming all the way to Toronto and helping us add a little spice to our New Year’s resolutions of looking and feeling better on the inside and outside, and to Tika for sharing this awesome experience with us!

Say I Love You in 4 Ways
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and nothing can really top last year’s… when I got engaged on the Brooklyn Bridge Park. It was freezing but it couldn’t be more perfect! Being married almost a year now, I have learned how to say I love you without saying it. Spice up your life with traditional and nouveau ways to show your partner they are special!
1. The Naked Heart by CARR Candle

Hi Everyone!
My name is Kai, I just moved to New York City a few day ago and I’m really excited to guest blog for HeyDoYou.
I’m 24, born and raised in Heidelberg, Germany and am currently interning at Birchbox Man.
