Yummy to Try via @ElsieCake

Buttermilk Pie, makes one.

3 eggs
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup honey (I used this kind, it’s amazing!)
2 tablespoons flour
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Whisk the eggs with the sugar and honey. Now stir in the other ingredients and pour into your favorite pie crust (mine’s store bought—hence the “halfway homemade”). Bake at 350°F for 40-45 minutes until the sides are golden brown and the pie is set (it will still have a slight jiggle in the center). Allow to fully cool before serving.

Believe it not, I’m a 6 ladies so that is 4 in ‘Grade school’ sizing! You may have seen them in other colors but this pink and red combo is the cutest by far.

In the Zone

An iconic silhouette originally worn by the one-and-only Allen Iverson, the Question Mid is a staple in the closets of sneakerheads and basketball fans alike.

Now ladies can get in the game on Friday, February 7th when the Question Mid red/pink drops in grade school sizes 3.5-8 at key retailers Kids Foot Locker, Champs, DTLR, Villa, Footlocker and Reebok.com for $95.

Grandma testing out Garnier products

My grandma was looking for skincare products. She doesn’t use a lot of make up ever but she is very serious about her skincare ritual!  Grandma is 86 but has really beautiful skin because she has taken great care of it her whole life. She recently tested out some new products with me from Garnier. My grandma and I are both born in the year of the Rat. We both love beauty rituals and making people feel comfortable. I am glad I could share this Garnier experience with her!

The new Garnier Clean+ has amazing products!  Big thanks from our friends at Garnier for sending these  for a sneak peek.

The stand out product for me is the Garnier 5 Second Perfect Blur – a smoothing and perfecting primer with optical effect. 5sec Perfect Blur takes 5 seconds to apply and improves the look of your skin immediately.

The Smoothing Cream Cleanser and Cleansing oil is for DRY skin so I will definitely need to use this on my legs, arms and elbow areas. It is ideal to use a creamy cleanser during the winter and a gel based on it in the summer.

Keep Calm and Stay Moisturized this Winter

Whenever someone finds out I’m from Miami around this time of year, they always ask: “How do you deal with the cold?” Well, my first winter was definitely a shock, but after seven and a half years I can handle it just as well as any New Yorker.

Now, the one thing I can’t get used to is the extreme winter dryness. Between the lack of humidity outside and the parching effects of indoor heat, it’s an endless battle keeping my hair and skin properly moisturized. And this crazy polar vortex sure isn’t helping things!

But fortunately, I’ve just been armed with some moisture essentials to help get me through the long harsh winter:

nyakio Kenyan Coffee Body Scrub
coffeescrub3

This body scrub is a unique fusion of Kenyan coffee beans, sugar, mongongo nut oil, shea butter, jojoba oil and avocado oil, that removes dull skin while smoothing, moisturizing and revealing more youthful-looking skin.

coffeescrub2

It has a non-oily, thick, jelly-like texture — which means your shower won’t turn into a slip & slide as you rinse off. The unisex scent is light and earthy with just a hint of energizing coffee. The exfoliating scrubbers did their job without being too rough and left my skin feeling very soft and moisturized.

St. Ives Naturally Energizing Citrus & Vitamin C Fresh Hydration Lotion
StIves

Moisturizing, convenient and smells like juicy grapefruit? Sign me up! Made with grapefruit extract, vitamin C and 100% natural moisturizers, this easy-to-apply lotion sprays on lightly and is quickly absorbed, leaving your skin energized and refreshed. This is perfect for mornings when I need a blast of moisture and quick!
($5.99 – $7.99)

Essence of Beauty Wind Kissed Body & Hand Cream
lotion

The scent is described as “a vision of spring flowers dancing in the breeze” with a “delicate harmony of cotton flower, mimosa, white amber and a whisper of soft musk” — and seriously, that’s exactly what the lotion smells like. This soft scented, quick absorbing lotion is definitely a treat! And a plus… it’s artificial dye & paraben free.

Nexxus Hydra-Light Weightless Moisture Leave-in Conditioning Foam
Nexxus

Low humidity in the winter means an abundance of good hair days, but it’s a double-edged sword because your hair starts feeling like hay if you don’t keep it moisturized. This leave-in, made with glycerin, deeply hydrates hair and helps make it more manageable and flexible for styling.

moisturehairfoam

The foam can be used in either wet or dry hair. I’m currently wearing my natural hair blown out and I just pumped some product in my hands, rubbed them together and smoothed on. It smells great and tamed my flyaways.

Polar Vortex Hair Rescue with @EvoSaveUs

It is really cold and I am sure you are walking around with a hat or a hood. The worst part of that is static hat hair!  evo’s water killerend doctor and love perpetua shine drops are some of our winter favorites to help manage winter’s dry and frizzy hair. Evo is a hair care brand from Australia. I am in love with their industrial packaging, quirky names and high performance products.

I have been using the eve Love Perpetua shine drops on the ends of my hair after blow drying to get that really sleek look. You can use this all over but for me, if you use too much – it can look greasy so remember less is more.  The smell is really soft and pleasant. I have also used this prior to flat ironing my hair as a sealing protection. The bottle is small and you only need 2 drops max!

End Doctor is the product that my hair really needs. I am sure anyone and everyone who has ombre hair can use this product! It is a strand strengthening crème to enhance curls, protect from heat damage and bring into line the strays breaking away from the pack. Even though my hair is straight it actually works well. It is quickly absorbed by my hair and leaves no residue. The smell again fresh and this product is handy to throw in to a bag when you head out for the day!
