Oatmeal, Walnuts, and Chocolate Chips – OH MY!

Okay, so I know that spring is just around the corner, and yes, it is imperative that we look slim and trim for the warm weather, but this is a recipe I just couldn’t resist sharing!

Oatmeal Walnut Chocolate Chip Cookies are a guilty pleasure that never fail to impress. They’re great to keep around the house or to give as a gift (because you know, every party host loves more food). What I love the most about them is that, with loads of oatmeal, they’re so wholesome and filling that one is enough to satisfy your sweet tooth — but I can’t promise you won’t reach for a second 😉 .

I swear by these cookies, they’re incredibly delicious and so easy to make — there’s no way you could possibly mess screw them up!

So, here’s how it’s done:

STEP ONE: Mix 2 Sticks Butter , 1 Cup Light Brown Sugar, and 1/2 Cup White Sugar until Creamy

STEP TWO: Then add 2 Large Eggs and 2 Teaspoons of Vanilla Extract

STEP THREE: Separately, Combine All-Purpose Flour, 1/2 Teaspoon of Salt, and 1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda

STEP FOUR: Mix the wet and dry ingredients then add 3 Cups Old Fashion Oats, 1 Cup Semisweet Chocolate Chips, and 1 Cup Walnuts

STEP FIVE: Refrigerate mixture for 30 mins, then place 1 tablespoon sized rounds onto a baking sheet; Bake at 325 degrees F for 12 minutes.

**NOTE: This recipe makes A LOT of cookies! (The picture above is after a family of 7 all had their fair share!) I suggest making half a batch; you’ll end up with about 24 cookies.. enjoy! 🙂

Chubby Pets Are No Laughing Matter

When it comes to the chubbiest pet city, Los Angeles ranks number one, according to the Chubby Pet Index4. Rounding out the top five cities are Washington DC, Chicago, Minneapolis and San Francisco. For a full list of the top 20 cities visit

Nearly half (44 percent) of pet owners say their cat or dog is currently chubby.

Consulting a vet is always the first step in getting your pet started on a weight-loss program, plus there are sites like that offer tips and tools to help manage your pet’s weight.

Only about half (49 percent) of dog and cat owners are engaging their animals in exercise at least once a day. A brisk walk in the park with your dog or shining a flashlight on the floor or wall to encourage your cat to play for just 10 minutes a day can make a big difference to their health.

Nearly three in five (61 percent) pet owners say their pet currently or in the past has needed to lose weight, and decreasing the amount of food (44 percent) is the most popular method they use to help their pets lose weight. However, when it comes to feeding your pet, consider switching to a pet food that provides precisely balanced nutrition to help pet’s achieve and maintain their ideal weight like Science Diet® Light.

Nearly half of pet owners (45 percent) give their cats and dogs pet treats at least once a day – treats between meals can help contribute to the extra one or two pounds that your pet may be holding onto so be sure to account for them during meal time. And you can always swap out some treats with verbal and physical praise to keep pets happy and feeling loved.

Free feeding is common for many pet owners (42 percent), but what they may not realize is that this is also a fast way to derail their pet’s weight management plan.

Creating a feeding schedule is a more viable option to keep dogs and cats at a healthier weight.

“The Biggest Loser” host Alison Sweeney recently kicked off the Million Pound Pledge to encourage pet owners to help their cats and dogs lose weight and get back on track to living a happy, healthy lifestyle.  As part of the Pledge, Ali will be hosting an exclusive live webcast next Tuesday, March 20th at 12PM EST on the Science Diet Facebook page.

Day Two @WMCFashionWeek

I wrote a brutal crisis management exam in the morning, and couldn’t wait to get to the tents, so that I could watch some shows and forget all about the exam that tore me a new you know what lol. I was so excited to see what day two of WMC Fashion week had in store, because the shows on day one damn near blew my mind!
