Inglot Cosmetics Makeup Courses

Last week I visited Inglot Cosmetics’ flagship studio in Chelsea Market for a class on Smokey Eye makeup application. The studio is a bit of a hidden gem, located on the 5th floor of Chelsea Market, but definitely worth a visit!  It doubles as a retail space, open to professionals and consumers alike.

For professionals, Inglot also has a photo studio and all the necessary equipment available for photo shoots.

We got a preview of the class, presented by head makeup artist, Brooklyn.  Brooklyn was a fantastic instructor!  He really knows his craft and is a true expert on Inglot’s extensive product line.  Smokey Eyes is just one of their classes. Also available:

  • Day to Night Look
  • Contour & Highlight
  • Flawless Complexion

The classes are complimentary with the purchase of $100 or more in cosmetics.  And with Inglot’s sensible pricing, you’ll definitely get a lot of bang for your buck.

What’s the best advice you can give to a fledgling writer?
Start writing. Now. Write every day. And read—magazines, blogs, novels. The more you read, the better your writing will become. And if you don’t love writing, consider finding a new day job.

What’s the key to being successful?
Woody Allen said it best: 50 percent of success is showing up. (Or is it 70 percent? 90 percent? I forget.) Whatever the percentage is, the other critical part is being prepared. When someone finally opens the door, answers your call, or reads your email, make sure you’re putting your best foot forward.

Quote that keeps you motivated:
Fake it ’till you make it! (I probably say it to myself each and every day.)

6-Man Volleyball Tournament – Manhattan Beach, CA

One of the most legendary, most fun events of the summer happened over the weekend… 6-MAN! To be precise its actually called Charlie Saikley Volleyball Tournament but to most its just 6-Man. This tournament takes place at Manhattan Beach, CA in the middle of the summer every year featuring all men or all women teams of 6 (hence 6-Man). Teams line up outside MB City Hall for hours to be picked to play in the tourny. Each team dresses up in outfits and costumes to differentiate themselves from each other. Costumes are always a crowd pleaser. Teams play until the brackets are shrunken to the winning team.

Meanwhile thousands of people gather at Manhattan Beach, literally thousands. Streets are blocked. Police and security everywhere. If you’re ever in LA during 6-Man I definitely recommend going. There are booths doing promotions and giving merchandise and products away. Lots of parties and many more after parties going on.
