Parlour – Socially Conscious Glamour Gives

Parlour the Cutting Edge

TORONTO, ON May 07, 2009 – This May 2009 a new, unique and sleek salon, Parlour is setting both beauty and social trends in the heart of Toronto’s hippest, up-and-coming district at 6 Ossington Avenue.

Young entrepreneurs, Tyler Moore, 32 and Franz David, 33 are introducing a fresh-take on hair with their contempo-chic space-design, fashion-forward cuts, and socially conscious business practices. Parlour modernizes the “funky salon haircut” experience with trendy sophistication and progressive décor. “A palette of black, white and grey tones paired with both a traditional and minimalist approach, gives Parlour an air of exclusivity reminiscent of a 1960s gentlemen’s club,” says Tyler when speaking of inspiration for the business. Juxtaposing antique elements familiar to this neighborhood with a lustrously modish aesthetic, Parlour is infusing the trendy Ossington strip with a touch of glamour.

True to its environmentally aware atmosphere, Parlour uses exclusively eco-friendly hair products by Kevin Murphy (www.kevinmurphy.com.au). Featuring award-winning package-design, Kevin Murphy products are recyclable; use sustainable resources, wild harvesting, and organic practices to support a cleaner world. The line is Paraben and Sulfate free, contains essential oils that are naturally superior to man-made substances, and holds a dedication to personalized products that mirror Parlour’s own client focused M.O.

Clients can also feel their own sense of humanitarianism. With each cut, this socially conscious salon donates all hair cuttings to Matter of Trust (www.matteroftrust.org), a non-profit organization that creates hair mats to save animals affected by oil spills. The natural hair cuttings are recycled to create mats that are placed underneath animals to soak up oils from the toxic spills. “Supporting oil spill hair mats is extremely important to us,” tells Franz. “Hair cuttings are a natural surplus that can help to save the lives of endangered animals around the world. How could we not support this cause?”

Inviting media and industry tastemakers, Parlour will be hosting a private launch event on May 27, 2009 from 7-11pm. The party will be hosted at the salon’s location in Toronto’s trendy Ossington strip at 6 Ossington Avenue. The event will include a live model showcase of hair designs by Parlour’s stylists, allowing guests to experience their chic style first hand, performances by The Caviliers, plenty of hors d’oeurves courtesy of the retro bar Watusi, and cocktails for guests to enjoy.

As spaces are quickly filling up, please RSVP before May 22, 2009 to Parlour@lotusleaf.ca with full name, media/company association, and email contact.
