Event LOVE: @HilaryMacmillan F/W2013 Debut
*pic credit: Flare Magazine*
Last week, myself and a number of Toronto fashionistas, celebrities, media and industry folk gathered at the Glass Factory- 99 Sudbury, for the premier of emerging Canadian designer Hilary Macmillan’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection. The collection was inspired by the richness of the colours in the Middle Ages; particularly with royalty in equestrian dressing, and was full of rich reds, and golds that were normally seen in uniforms when men gallantly rode in on their horses. When asked what made her collection unique, she said, “My brand is uniquely Canadian: I design, source and manufacture everything within Canada.
Here are some of my favourite pieces!
I loved this suit!

Event LOVE: @GUESS Music Festival Collection Launch #GUESSRocks
When I received the invite to attend a private launch of the new GUESS Music Festival Collection I was super excited, because 1: I’m always down for to check out GUESS’ new collections as they’re usually super cute, and 2: I couldn’t wait to see who would be performing at the event… Mind you the invite said NOTHING about live performances, so I don’t know how I managed to convince myself that there would be actual performances lol, I guess my mind ran away with the whole Music Festival Collection theme…
Anyway, I was DIGGING most of the collection. I don’t own any Guess pieces, but after what I saw, I may need to add some pieces to my wardrobe, including the accessories. I mean sure we don’t have a Coachella here in Canada, but we have so many other awesome music festivals in the summer time, that the collection is totally perfect for!
We sipped on delicious Vodka Lemonade drinks and treats while viewing the collection. It felt like summer in there, and then we went outside π
I’m not big on jeans during the summer… or ever really, but some of them were kinda cute!
I usually prefer big chunky bracelets and bangles but these would be nice too π
I’ll wear anything with animal print…
These ladies making cute look too easy!
Can’t do festival without the fringe!
Had me wishing summer would just get here already!
<3 Elana π
Thank you for inviting us, the collection ROCKS!

Event LOVE: @Tiger_Of_Sweden Grand Opening
We recently attended a special media and VIP preview to celebrate the grand opening of Tiger of Sweden’s flagship location in Toronto. I’d never heard of Tiger of Sweden so I was curious excited to see what it was all about. I liked a lot of the women’s clothing, but it was the men’s clothing and accessories that stole my heart; if they have my size in the menswear, then I need EVERYTHING! The bowties, the mixed print shirts, the printed blazers, the coats and even the shoes; everything was so grown and sexy. I dug it.
We sipped cocktails and snacked on hors d’oeuvres like tuna tartare served on taro chips, while jamming to the music and trying our hardest not to soil any of the lovely clothes!
Here are some of my favourite Tiger of Sweden pieces:
Definitely one of my faves from the womenswearΒ
sheer + print= perfect for meeeeee
I fell in love with this shirt!
This guy’s umbrella looks like a sword!
Ally lovely as always!- GirlsOfTO
I’ll take the entire display case please and thank you.
My first (and last) time trying tuna tartare… it’s good, but it’s so not for me lol
It was a good night. Thank you for inviting me!

What She Wore: Recap of @WMCFashionWeek #ootd
I get really excited and frustrated when World MasterCard Fashion Week comes around, because I have no clue what to wear lol. I’m excited for all the fashion goodness, but when it comes to dressing myself, I’m a total wreck. This season, I did what I always do, BRIGHT COLOURS. I figured people won’t really notice how nice, or not so nice your outfits are, when there are nice and bright colours to distract them lol. So my approach this season was keep it simple, and O.D. on lots of colour, prints and head wraps. As for my make-up, I chose to keep that simple as well; clean face, winged eyes, and a burgundy lip. I planned on wearing my fro out this season, but the weather was crazy honey, so that wasn’t happening! Here’s what I wore during 5 of some of the the most fashionable days in Toronto π
DAY ONE
I had just gotten off work, and I was exhausted. It was cold outside, and I was feeling blue… I was also late so I had to think quickly lol
Headwrap: H&M | Dress and Earrings: Forever21 | Vintage Blazer: Black Market | Shoes: Jessica Simpson | Bangles: Costa Blanca
DAY TWO
The mustard and the camo headwrap just seemed like a good idea… and as long as the colours were popping, I was cool with it π
Headwrap: Holt Renfrew | Vintage Blazer: Black Market | Dress: H&M | Shoes: Aldo
I had the day off and the chance to take a long and glorious nap, so I was feeling more fashion week-y on day three! Plus, this jumpsuit was TIGHT when I first bought it, so you can only imagine the JOY I felt, when I put it on and it fit! I had to rock it!
Headwrap: It’s a pashmina π | Vintage Jumpsuit: Black Market | Shoes: BCBG MAXAZRIAΒ | Bangles: A market in Accra, Ghana
The “Big Red Bow” was a hit during fashion week, and this is the first time I’d ever tied my headwrap like this. Success!
I was feeling fun, flirty and girly, so this dress was a natural choice!
Headwrap: H&M | Earrings: Forever21 | Vintage Silk Dress: Black Market | Bag: Steve Madden | Wedges: Aldo
I really didn’t know what to wear for day five, I was tired from all the shows and events, and just needed a nap; but once I remembered that I had this dress that I bought in the UK almost a year ago, everything fell into place π
Headwrap: Black Market | Earrings: Forever21 | Dress: Miss Selfridge | Shoes: Aldo
There you have it! What do you all think of my choices?
Stay fly!

Event Recap: @WMCFashionWeek Days 3, 4, 5, and everything in-between.
So fashion week came to an end on Friday, and as sad as I was to see it go, I was also extremely relieved lol. I could finally give my feet a rest, and my afternoon naps could pick up where they left off… I kid π I was really excited for this season, I guess missing the last season, had me craving all the wonderful streetstyle, and of course; I couldn’t wait to see what this round of designers had in store for us.
What did I think about World MasterCard Fashion Week F/W2013? Hmmm…. It was nice. Honestly, I was exhausted by day three and there seemed to be a certain je ne sais quoi missing this season. I didn’t bother filming any of the shows after day two because everything was going to be online anyway, and let’s be honest the quality of IMG’s video is way better than mine π
However, despite the exhaustion I loved catching up with and meeting Toronto’s fashionistas, and I’m always inspired by the designers who show their collections. I wasn’t thrilled by majority of the collections, but I’m always inspired by the courage that these designers have to show their collections, to hundreds of very picky and very fashionable fashionistas π

This show was my life!
My highlights this season?
- I LOVED Korhani, Bustle gave me life, and PAVONI? PAVONI took my breath away!
- I made a few best dressed and beauty lists, which was kinda flattering I can’t lie π Thanks to GLOW Magazine, Fashion Magazine, BlogTO, and everybody else that made this lil girl feel a lil special π
I always think my liner looks a lil off so this was very comforting lol π
- I got to catch up with my fellow blogger fashionistas who were all looking beyond FLY honey! *two snaps*
- * The street style. Despite the crazy cold weather, Toronto fashionistas were not going to be swayed, because they BROUGHT it through wind, rain, snow and shine!
There was a great deal of black on the runway this season… I’m a sucker for bright colours and bold prints so all the black leather, fur etc. obviously this wasn’t my thing, but I will say that all the collections were really well made, and the attention to detail was ON POINT. Two very fashionable thumbs up.
I can’t wait for World MasterCard Fashion Week S/S2014 because there’s bound to be lots of colour! Woohoooo πΒ A big congratulations to all the designers who showed this season, I can only wish I had even half of your courage to follow my dreams!
Until next season π
Stay fly!

Event LOVE: Day Two @WMCFashionWeek #WMCFW
The weather was still crap, but that wasn’t enough to stop all the fashionistas from coming down to then tents to catch their favourite shows. My favourite shows? DUY brought it! Line Knitwear was wonderful and of course David Dixon never disappoints. Day two was a good day, three more to go!
Some video for you π
Happy Fashion Week-ing!
