Event LOVE: @ThinkReese 2014 Collection Preview

    20140226_211758

We were invited to an Exclusive Preview of the REESE 2014 collection on Thursday. If you’ve seen any of Reese’s pieces then you know we were in for quite a treat- from sexy and unique bathing suits, to beautiful cultured pieces, and pretty printed dresses; this was gonna be good! I was especially looking forward to seeing the “Tourist-Oviya” piece and almost lost my mind when I did, because it’s just as beautiful in person as it looks in the online store! I need it in my life like yesterday!!

    ‘Love Story’ Styles with @CarlosCamposNYC

Fashion designer Carlos Campos just had his fall/winter 2012 collection last Sunday.

A New York-based fashion designer born in Honduras has shown a different approach to the runway. His collection was inspired by an old love story, written by Gabriel García Márquez, “Love in the Time of Cholera.” It is a story of a man in a park who spends 50 years on a bench waiting for his true love.

Colors of burgundy and red rose, camel brown, dark navy, and sepia perfect the story of the book he gives credit to. The floral prints, detailed pockets, distinctive patterns, and the assortment of colors will let you create a unique style of your own. The different colors blend well to mix and match. Finishing up some of his looks included outerwear that ranged from wool, cashmere, and cotton-silk.

What would you pair up or wear in this collection to tell your own love story?

    FIDM DEBUT 2010

Went down to the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica to watch a parade of talent… the FIDM Debut 2010!  I wore my Telephone inspired outfit and decided to never play it safe ever again.

It started with the showcasing of the 10 scholarship winners from Fashion Design that participated in the Guess denim competition.

    models x designers

Then the Judy Garland / Liza Minilli tribute pieces from Costume Design majors.

The show then showcased the collections rom the 10 students that were breath taking.

Dream Sequence collection from FIDM Design student Brittany My Linh Vu
    Knit Wear designer Julia Nish

I was sitting way back behind 20,000 people so sorry for the photo quality!  The thing I love about fashion, art and FIDM is that when you think everythings been done before you see new talents that blows you away.  Chase your dreams!

My favorite designer was Meghann Alaina Fanara who gave up a ballet scholarship to attend FIDM to design children apparel. She won the Karen Kain award for FIDM and had a spectacular collection and the most adorable models.

My favorite collection is the Kapasa Musonda from.. Zambia! Her passion for design, her highly detailed piece and very wearable couture made me love her collection!  She started her own line 3 years ago at the age of 17.  She has won numerous global award at home and aboard. She is a force to be reckoned with. Love you girl!

    Good bye Alexander McQueen

Heaven just got a little more fashionable.

Alexander McQueen was 40 years old when he commit suicide just several days before London Fashion Week….

Openly gay, McQueen – who once described himself as the ‘pink sheep of the family’ – left school at 16 and went to work at Savile Row’s Anderson & Sheppard, whose clients included Prince Charles and Mikhail Gorbachev, after he saw a television program about the apprentice shortage in traditional tailoring.

He went on to work for Gieves & Hawkes, theatre’s famous Angels & Bermans costumiers, and then worked in Japan and Italy.
He returned to London in 1994, hoping to work as a pattern cutter tutor at London’s prestigious Central Saint Martins fashion school. Thanks to the strength of his portfolio he was persuaded to enroll in the course himself.

After graduating McQueen set up his own label based in the East End of London. With the launch of his ‘bumsters’ trousers with a waistband so low that the buttocks are revealed, McQueen made his label famous through tabloid headlines.

He went on to be named head designer at Givenchy in 1996, succeeding John Galliano, before joining forces with Gucci, who bought 51 per cent of his company.

In the Biz: What the HELLZ?

HellzBellz is a clothing line from LA that has gained street credibility and recognition on fashion blogs. I had the pleasure to visit their head office for a sample sale!

Like many clothing brands, they interact with their people via Twitter and their blog. I like it when brands do that for two reasons. The first being I love seeing where their inspirations comes from and 2, I love a company run by like-minded individuals.

They are self described as “a contemporary clothing brand catering to the burgeoning class of rebellious youth. Interconnected and ever opinionated, this global community consisting of artists, musicians, and designers lead the world in the creation of subculture. Hellz recognizes this class and celebrates their movement.”   I like that.

^_^ Vanessa and I. We heart HELLZ ^_^

Lanie B, the founder and creative director of HellzBellz is exactly how you expect her to be.  A bad bitch for real.  Here is how she sees herself:

My name is Lanie… ‘Misslawn” if you nasty and I’m the HBIC [head bitch in charge(?)] definitely ain’t the cutesy, damsel in distress type chick… more like the balls to the wall / book worm type. I’m a wanna-be magician, freakishly strong, and short but definitely not sweet. When not obsessing over vampires or cookin’ up some new-new shit, you can find me stuffing my face, shopping OR stuffing my face while shopping. “everything I love is illegal, immoral or fattening”

There is just something so appealing about a chick who can live out loud and face herself in the mirror and smile. Love it. Everything that you imagine can only come into fruition when you take the steps to make it happen. *claps*

Be whoever you want to be, no one can do you better than you.

    Christophe Decarnin for BALMAIN

Designer Christophe Decarnin during Paris Fashion Week 2009. This is what a fashion designer looks like. House of Balmain was sizzling hot on the runways and he is the man behind the vision. This is my new favorite fashion visionary!

    LOVE
Paris bubbled with subtly sexy shows but few matched the high voltage vampiness of Christophe Decarnin’s punky collection for Balmain. For autumn, the designer took his signature party clothes up a gear with crystal lightening flashes on seriously micro-mini skirts, leopard print skin-tight trousers and some brilliantly cut tux jackets.

    More about Balmain here

    Jennifer Connelly wore this…
