New @BECCA_COSMETICS Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed

A pressed version of its iconic best-selling liquid Shimmering Skin Perfector, the NEWBECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed utilizes new technology that delivers fade-resistant colour impact with an incredibly soft and delicate creamy texture.  The unique formula also allows for a super controlled application.  Ultra-fine particles reflect light and illuminate darkened areas while Nylon-12 helps create a soft-focus effect. This product is perfect for use on both the face and body and makes contouring and highlighting a cinch!

Pricing: $38 Available at Sephora and Sephora.com

What I thought: Becca products are exquisite!  From the packaging to the formula to the brush and product – they seem to do everything right. I have no tried Becca products in the past except for at Sephora but always had this impression that this brand is for a lady who likes a natural look. This shimmering pressed powder gives a highlight to your very natural look.  It is not like a traditional bronzer with a lot of ‘tan’ colors and less pearly shimmer than Bobbi Brown’s shimmer brick. This is the perfect in between that is great for a day look. Even if you are just going to the office. Rose Gold is such a beautiful trend for fall – and this is no exception!

    @StilaCosmetics 2012 Summer Favorites

Having attended two beauty shows in the past month, I have to say I’ve grown in love with the Stila booth! The ProArtists are wonderfully friendly and helpful, and I always manage to find just the product I’m looking for when I stop by. This month, I discovered three products that I couldn’t help but share! They are the One Step Correct, the Set & Bronze Baked Powder Trio, and the Custom Color Blush in Self-Adjusting Coral.

I love all three of these products, especially for the summer! The One Step Correct primer acts as a skin tone corrector and brightening serum. With the benefits of its “Youth Revival” mineral complex, and the triple-swirled helix that works to minimize redness, counteract sallow undertones, and as an illuminator, I like to use it even without any makeup on. Next, the Set and Bronze Trio — a bronzer that also sets my makeup, this powder definitely makes it to my summer essentials list. I love it and it’s quickly become part of my daily makeup routine. It highlights and gives off a subtle youthful glow, seemingly effortless. And last, but not least, the Custom Color Blush is the newest member to my Stila collection. I love the look of coral during the summer, and this product reacts with your skin tone to create a one of a kind customized glow perfect for you.
I’m a huge fan of Stila Cosmetics; what Stila product is your beauty essential for this summer?

Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics (@ybcosmetics) Product Review

I recently tried out a couple products from Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics, which I definitely suggest adding to your “must try” list!

I’m a fan of mineral based makeup because it tends to be gentler on the skin. Youngblood was created by a licensed medical aesthetician, Pauline Youngblood, specifically so that patients would be able to use it on their super-sensitive skin after dermatological procedures. If that isn’t gentle, I don’t know what is!

I tried the Mineral Primer, Liquid Mineral Foundation and Lunar Dust…

    MINERAL PRIMER

I love a good primer, but unfortunately, a good primer is often hard to find. Many times, they’re feathery or too thick, and that completely defeats the purpose. However, I’ve used the Youngblood Mineral Primer several times, and each time, it goes on smooth, providing a weightless base for my makeup. My skin can be a bit on the oily side, and this primer keeps my makeup on all day.

    LIQUID MINERAL FOUNDATION

Just like the Mineral Primer, the Foundation is incredibly lightweight and absorbs very quickly. It goes on evenly, provides natural coverage, and doesn’t wipe off, which is a problem I’ve had with some liquid foundations (another common issue with oily skin). The Deep Sea Hydrating Complex helps hydrates the skin without making is greasy or sticky.

I got the foundation in “Barbados”, which is the darkest shade, however I probably should have gone one shade lighter with “Caribbean”. I was able to wear it for about a week, thanks to the glow I had from my Miami trip, but once my skin settled back into it’s dead-of-winter color, I had to stop using it because it was a bit too dark. No worries–I’ll be able to able to wear it after the next time I get a little sun in my life!

On a related note, it would be great if Youngblood had a better selection of darker colors. With “Barbados” being the darkest shade, many women of color aren’t going to be able to find the correct match.

    LUNAR DUST

I love this. The fine, light-reflecting minerals provide a soft, luminous glow. I used “Dusk”, which was the perfect color. Definitely one of the best bronzers I’ve come across.

Lise Watier Havana All Over Baked Bronzer Review

I received @LiseWatier’s Havana All Over Baked Bronzer a few months ago to try along with a bunch of other goodies and I must say this is actually one of my favs. I own lots of bronzers so I tend to hop from product to product depending on my mood and usually whatever worked best for me the day before (hence, bad makeup day=next product) but I always circle back to products I like. I’ve been using this bronzer for a solid 2 months now (realllly long time for me). It’s really pigmented which I like. I’ve lots of bronzers and powders that don’t seem to show up no matter how many times I swipe my brush over it. I love that I don’t get the bronzer dust everywhere, you know the powder that collects on your product from swiping your brush back and forth… most likely because it’s baked so it’s super compact, unlike a normal powder. Also, this bronzer doesn’t give my face that “dirty” or “muddy” look that some bronzers do. The shimmery cream, pink, and brown swirls give me just the right amount of color without being too shimmery, orangey, or brown. It’s literally a bronzer, giving you a bronzed look.

    wearing it as my contour

I use this product daily to contour my face and I have yet to encounter problems with it. The way I have found that works best for me is to apply it with an angled contour brush right under my cheek bones then blend towards the hair line and upwards (to give my cheeks a little color) with a brush like the All Over Face Brush from Bare Essentials. Apply some highlighter right above my cheekbones and I’m set.

.71 oz of product compared to the .30-40 in most bronzers

I will NEVER leave my house with cheekbones chiseled since I have such a round face. In my opinion, a complete face isn’t really complete until you’ve contoured your face so a good bronzer is a staple item in my stash. If you’re in the market for a new bronzer I definitely recommend the Lise Watier Havana All Over Baked Bronzer. I can actually say I don’t have a single bad thing to say about this product. In fact, if you’re looking for the best bang for your buck this would be it. For $35 you get SO much product. Since its baked it’s got a dome-like shape so it’s not like its in a thin pan. I’ve been using this product daily and I’ve barely flattened the top of it. Try it and let me know what you think 🙂

I checked Naimie’s website and I didn’t see it there so I think you can only get it on the Lise Watier website. Check out their other fab products too!

    xo, June 🙂
