@PaulMitchellUK Festival Kit For The Summer

It’s the summer and I’m in London, England. What’s there to do? Apparently there’s a music festival every other day and people camp out for days in tents living off booze and crackers. Coachella, you’ve been served.

But let’s not get started about the duffle bag we have to carry all our wardrobe and beauty in. This is a place where band boys are in abundance and some decency applies. Thankfully Paul Mitchell thought of creating a festival kit they like to call Style Survivor.

The kit comes with five classic Paul Mitchell favorites along with a mini brush that fit comfortably in a cute leopard print bag. Check it out:

The Conditioner: Leave-in moisturizer that you can throw on your ends but also use on your legs and skip the body lotion!

Soft Sculpting Spray Gel: This spray-gel does the trick without feeling sticky, especially since you’ll be outside all day.

Awapuhi Moisture Mist: OMG this smells amazing and you can use it on your hair, face, and even on your clothes to smooth out wrinkles!

Hold Me Tight Hairspray: A finishing spray to keep your hair in place for over 24-hours.

Fast Form Cream: Definitely a must-have to tame frizz. Use it wet or dry to smooth out your hair instantly!

Oh yeah, the kit also comes with a set of temporary tattoos for you to brand yourself without getting in too much trouble. I’m #teampaulmitchellhairspray!

But the real kicker is this super cute purple paper boom box! I think it’s absolutely adorable and for only £40 you can’t go wrong! Find the next Paul Mitchell salon near you and happy festival-ing!

    Xoxo, @missamandachen

    Stomping around in @JackLily_shoes

A very special post from my sister in Edmonton!

When little feet start pitter-pattering, it’s time for shoe shopping! Scott started walking just before his first birthday, right as spring arrives and we want to get outside. In choosing his first ‘real’ footwear, I wanted shoes that are light but well built, with good ankle support that will help those toddling steps before confident strides and eventually full-out sprints. There are several ‘pre-walkers’ that’s ideal, except my son’s got big feet. His first pair of runners were size 5.5.

We came across Jack and Lily and decided to try them. There is a wide selection in styles and colours and we picked the Argyle Whites. When they arrived in the mail, I was delighted first of all with the cute little box they come in, complete with a clear window and a handle on top. The shoes themselves are fantastic. Lightweight, with a sturdy yet thin sole, these little guys are well made works of art.

Instead of the single digit sizing, Jack and Lily has a range of months sizing, much like kids clothing. For us, the shoes were a little big for now, so we will have to save them for a while til Scott grows into them. I am curious to see how well the soles hold up on slippery surfaces as it does not have many ridges that works as anti-skidding.

We will let you know in a couple months!

Go Further with @Ford 2012: Trend Conference

I spent this week at Ford HQ at Dearborn, Michigan to see all the new things happening at Ford.

With a star studded panel and lots of interesting topics – Ford is really cutting edge in design, concept and leading the auto industry into the brave new world with technology that we only dream of! Like the workshop I went to last month in Geneva, there was a visual recorder who drew exactly what we were talking about.

Ford invited over 250 car journalists, lifestyle bloggers, mommy bloggers, gadget and tech bloggers to spend 3 days in Michigan to get a sneak peek at all the exciting things FORD is doing in 2014 and beyond. I was one of the lucky ones to attend this year’s Ford Go Further Conference. I had a blast last year at the Forward with Ford in 2011.

We had dinner at the Ford Stadium and check out the field of the Detroit Lions. That astro-turf was deep and soft.

Ford and ZipCar partnered up to make sure over 200 university campus nationwide now have car-sharing available.

Trend #5 is DIY. We spent an evening at Techshop – the dream workshop shared space for anyone who wants to create anything. We made sandblasted glass mugs, custom pewter jewelry, silk screening and high-pressured waterjet demo. The CEO of TechShop Mark Hatch said they are opening one in Brooklyn at Jay Street Metrotech soon. Can’t wait to go laser cut and make 3D stuff.

I will post more about Trend 1, 2, 3, 4 in upcoming posts!  Thanks FORD for an amazing time!
