    Best of NYC: Food

I have only been in China for about three days and I’m already getting nostalgic for New York City. New Yorkers may be loud, aggressive, and insane, but you can truly be whoever you want to be in this city.  There really isn’t another place in the world quite like it.

I’m also thinking about so many of the great meals shared with new friends, old friends, and school buddies that I reconnected with. As I think about all of the delicious food and wonderful company I encountered this summer, I feel it’s only right that I share some of my favorite spots in the city for a bite to eat.

Bare burger has a ton of organic variety… from Bison burgers, to several kinds of veggie options, to sandwiches and wraps. I will definitely be bringing my family here the next time they are in town!

If you feel like getting some beers and grub in Korea Town, Mad For Chicken, makes delicious chicken marinated in hot & spicy and garlic sauces. You can also order a beer tower. Seriously people, it’s a tower of beer that lights up in different colors.

My favorite new ice cream place is a 1950’s themed parlor in Williamsburg (near the water where they have The Brooklyn Flea) called Oddfellows. I would go back and get their awesome flavors like Thai Iced Tea and PB&J (see picture above).  The PB&J is made by freezing the condiments with liquid nitrogen to keep them separate from the vanilla base. At Sundaes and Cones in Manhattan, the taro, green tea, and guava ice-creams are must tries! GROM has the best gelato in the city. Paris Baguette in K-Town has a fantastic green tea shaved ice with toppings for days.

Xian Famous Foods is the place to go for inexpensive spicy noodles and their insane pork buns. Ohmygod their pork buns are just bursting with flavor.

For cheap, tasty Vietnamese fare, I would head down to Nha Trang in Chinatown and order their shrimp summer rolls, pork chop, and chicken pho.

I have not found a place with more choices and toppings than Kung Fu Tea. I love that you can adjust the amount of sugar you want in your boba. I’m obsessed with their kung fu green milk tea and taro milk tea. For a sit down place, I always go to the Teahouse from Hong Kong, St. Alps.

What are your favorite places to eat in the city?

Stay tuned for more posts about where to drink, exercise, and shop!

Lazy Hair Gal Meets @JohnFriedaUS — Mind Blown!

Trust me when I say I hate to style my hair. I’m happy to wake up and leave the apartment without so much as a quick comb through my locks (terrible, I know). But John Frieda Styling Tools by Conair has changed everything about my morning routine. And I want to share it with you pretty peeps!

    John Frieda

Due for a hairdryer upgrade? I know I was. The Salon Shine Dryer is more than just another hair dryer though—this little beauty packs 1875 watts of power into a compact design and is kind to your hair by giving you more shine and less fJohn Frieda Styling Tools by Conair Salon Shine Dryerrizz. Less frizz, more shine? Now you’re talking.John Frieda Styling Tools by Conair Paddle Brush

Another thing I’m loving is the John Frieda Paddle Brush. I admit to not being a fan of early morning hair combing but this hairbrush is nothing like the previous ones I’ve owned. This brush is actually made with shine-enhancing silicone bristles and natural IONS to smooth fly-aways (fly-away hair? Been there too many times!).

And the piece de resistance? The Satin Finish Flat Iron. Seriously, guys, if there’s only one hair styling tool you buy this year, it’s gotta be this one. It heats up in just 15 seconds and it protects hair from heat damage with titanium-coated plates. I straightened my hair—from root to end—in less than 10 minutes. TEN MINUTES! For a lazy hair person, this was magic.

All three are back-to-school must-haves. Rushing-before-work must-haves. And I-can’t-be-bothered-it’s-the-weekend must-haves. Hair styling has never been more effortless!

    My @JLo Goin in Look @Occmakeup @ChillyJilly1

It all started at the VMA’s I guess, when the NSYNC performance came on, I went into the archives to look up so old favorites like Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls, JLo and the whole gamut.  Then I posted a JLo pic for an early edition of #throwbackthurs and my girl LivLaughLauren said Jlo will always remind her of me and I of her!  When we were at Western, we would be blasting Jlo all day everyday… Man! That was 2002 I think ah!! Time flies… Jennifer Lopez is timeless, ageless and my all time fav.

A random Thursday can be inspired by Jennifer Lopez!

    @Mias_Kitchen Pasta Sauce

Get saucy with it!  Enough Miley talk for me – if you want to get really saucy you have to try California brand Mia’s Kitchen. A real kick and a real game changed in the pasta sauce – It is awesome and it is totally fun!

An out of the box, quirky young woman from sonoma. Mia and her mother, Nancy, developed the mia’s kitchen brand to share the bounty of their italian culinary skills with cooks and “foodies” who have an appreciation of fine epicurean experiences with a casual twist and who enjoy “eating gourmet everyday.”

I enjoy eating gourmet everyday and definitely recommend that you give your Tortellini new life with Mia’s Kitchen.

NARS Unveils Brand New Eye Paints For Fall! @NARSissist

If you’ve ever wondered how some people just get their eye makeup spot on every. single. time., I think I’ve found the answer: NARS Eye Paint.

I was lucky enough to attend the NARS Eye Paint Open House this week in NYC and I took a sneak peek at this amazing new line of creamy and colorful eye paints that can be used as an eye shadow or eyeliner.

So what’s to love about these pint-sized paints? First, it’s the range of colors NARS has introduced into the line. From sultry greens and flashy golds to midnight shimmery blues—there’s a shade to suit every complexion (and outfit!).

Second, NARS has created the ultimate in everyday wearability. This eye paint stays where it’s supposed to. Work with it fast and it will set perfectly, promising not to smudge–and it’s waterproof, too.

Yep, I’m pretty much in love with this new eye paint. And it was hard keeping my hot little mitts away from all the other goodies on offer at the NARS boutique, too. So. Much. Makeup. Such. Little. Time.

Pop into NARS this September (or shop online) to pick up their Eye Paints—I have a feeling these are going to be the hottest little must-haves for fall.
