    Hope North’s Inaugural Celebrity Studded Gala–you’re invited! @HopeNorth @SusanSarandon @ForestWhitaker

And now for something really special!

Hope North is an incredible secondary school in Uganda that has been designed to educate and heal the youngest victims of Uganda’s civil war, including orphans and child soldiers. This school is located on a 40-acre campus and features an international arts center, vocational training, and a working farm for the students. It’s a place to heal, as well as a place to empower Uganda’s youngest generation.

    Hope North

This month Hope North is holding their inaugural gala at NYC’s City Winery to raise funds and awareness for this fantastic organization. And you’re invited!

Honorary co-hosts Susan Sarandon and Forest Whitaker (two of my faves) will be celebrating the contributions that actress and advocate Mary-Louise Parker has given to Hope North, while Rufus Wainwright and Sahr Ngaujah will both be attending and performing a set for guests. Zoing – incredible!

If you plan to be in NYC on 9/18, join the celebration by picking up a ticket here.

If you’re out of town for the gala, Hope North is holding an online auction on September 10th, which has quite a few unique bidding items up for grabs, such as lunch with Susan Sarandon and Mary-Louise Parker (OMG!), a private concert at home with jazz pianist ELEW (swoon!), or a golf outing with Richard Kind (fore!). Check out Charity Buzz this week to place dibs!

    @MBfashionweek Backstage Beauty @MaraHoffman @TIGIHaircareUSA

DSCN4902TiGi created some incredible looks for Mara Hoffman backstage using a combination of pomade and high shine spray. Creating 3 braids and wrapping it with a colorful Guatemalan belts as bands – the TiGi team, transformed these models into magical and mythical RAINBOW WARRIORS.

Mara Hoffman beams a positive energy that lights up a room. “There’s a Rainbow Warrior moment happening here,” she said backstage before her spirited Spring show. “This collection is about straight-up happiness. I know that sounds hippie-dippie, but it’s real.” Hoffman wasn’t kidding about the rainbow thing. In addition to playing up her signature vibrant prints (including a graphic serpent pattern and her go-to third-eye motifs, which she did long before Kenzo), Hoffman showed maxi dresses and sheer caftans embroidered or embellished, respectively, with ROYGBIV-colored arcs. Other standouts in the lineup included tie-dyed jumpsuits, intarsia-knit ponchos, and a pair of short shorts cut from artisanal Guatemalan belts—the same ones wrapped around the models’ Willie Nelson-esque braided extensions. Hoffman’s aesthetic is niche, to be sure, but you can’t say these clothes don’t have soul (via Style.com)

    She is amazing!

    Ernest Alexander Spring/Summer 2014 Presentation for NYFW @ernestalexander @MBfashionweek

I’ve got a soft spot for a well-dressed man (who doesn’t?) and so I’m always interested to know what’s going on in the men’s fashion world. And since Fashion Week just kicked off, I’m treated to sneak peeks of some of the best designers out there.

The Ernest Alexander Spring/Summer 2014 Presentation was held this week in trendy Tribeca (side note: one of my fave NYC neighborhoods) where guests got to see this very exciting collection that takes inspiration from an “American gone abroad” and revisits founder and designer Ernest Sabine’s experience living in Venice and the midsummer nights he had in his youth.

What does the collection include? Pretty much everything you want to see your handsome honey dressed in! Tailored pieces like double-breasted blazers, suits, outerwear, plus oh-so fine linen shorts, cotton shirts and the ultimate accessory: handsomely designed briefcases that feature camouflage prints and bold colors.

Why I love this brand? Clean designs. Covetable colors. Out-of-the-box style.

    Ernest Sabine

Founded in 2009, Ernest Alexander is a New York City-based menswear brand known for American made accessories and men’s tailored clothing. Ernest Alexander is sold through its NYC flagship store in SoHo and online at www.ernestalexander.com.

70 Calories Ice Cream by @HaloTopCreamery

Can ice cream that has 7g protein, 70 calories, and 4 g of sugar taste good?

    DSCN4820

I recently got samples of Halo Top Creamery – All Natural Light Ice Cream.  The golden lid is the “Halo Top”. The top-shelf ingredients are all organic, cage free, hormone free and taste just like ice cream.

Screen Shot 2013-09-05 at 1.07.01 PM

They are in 17 states, Sprout, Whole Foods and comes in 4 flavors.

My favorite flavor is Vanilla Bean – It is perfect for smoothies, milkshakes, a la mode with desserts and yummy with cornflakes on top!

Chocolate – This one tastes just a bit like chocolate, it is so good with shredded coconut on top

Lemon Cake – This cheesecake texture and lemony flavor is yummy! I topped these with fresh strawberries

Strawberry – This one is made of real organic strawberries and it is just the perfect pink!

Ice cream season doesn’t end with summer.

    Denim Perfection @DAVID_KAHNJeans

Happy Fashion Week New York friends!  It is the beginning of an exciting 7 days so make sure you pace yourself.  While everyone is trying to be more eccentric than the next person – I will opt for the classic looks. Black and White and also White and Denim with a pop of color.

    DSCN4819

I never heard of David Kahn jeans until recently and when I tried them on, I was sold!  The Nikki Ankle fit is incredible and there is stretch in every pair.  The last few years, I have been living in leggings and dreading the times I have to wear jeans but these are so comfy I have been wearing them 2 days straight!  I love the way they have a 8 inch rise so your butt never hangs out and you don’t have to be constantly tugging at them.  Since I am only 5’3 the ankle style fits me perfectly, no cuffing or altering required! They do not squish your butt at all. They actually lift them – how cute!

David Kahn Jeanswear is a California-based denim company that features both men’s and women’s designer jeans. Since 1999, these jeans have been designed and merchandised by David Kahn and the collection consists of the highest quality Japanese and Italian premium denim with the most sophisticated and inventive washes available anywhere. David Kahn Jeans are carried in the most exclusive specialty stores in the United States, and around the world. David Kahn Jeans are best know for their quality and fit. Many Hollywood celebrities such as Debra Messing, Nicolette Sheridan, Geena Davis, Julia Roberts, Jamie Pressley and Cameron Diaz wear David Kahn Jeans. David Kahn denim was also named a “brand to look for” in Oprah Magazine February 2008. An addition to our celebrity news is that Kristi Lee Cook showed off a pair of David Kahn Jeans crystal stone jeans in last summer’s American Idol tour. David Kahn Jeans typically range in price from USD $158 to $248.
