The hottest lip gloss this summer

All you really want from a lip gloss is shine and colour – that lasts from day to night. Not a lot to ask for, am I right?

Make Up For Ever is always on point when it comes to hot, vibrant colours, and their staying power is pretty top-notch too. But their new Artist Plexi Gloss Lip Lacquer is a whole new ball game – the shine catches the light in all the right places. It’s got a really soft shimmer to it, not like super obnoxious glittery, and not like plastic-looking.

Here’s a play-by-play of how easy it is to get an instant shiny red lip. Just a few quick swipes and voila! 💋

The main reason it’s my official go-to gloss this summer is because it’s so versatile. Like you don’t have to use a lip liner or lipstick with this, just choose a sheer version for a subtle pop of colour or the opaque version for a bold look. With 35 shades available, I guarantee you’ll have a hard time choosing your top three.

Summer Lovin’ Beach Essentials

summer essentials

Now that summer has finally arrived, and when the school bags are switched for beach bags (a fair trade I must notice), it is about time to start thinking about the answers to the eternal existential question: “What to wear”. Beside having your fabulous summer essentials, you can’t just put on any ol’ swimsuit and flip-flops and that’s it. A true fashionista knows how important is to reflect her “passion for fashion” on her beachwear too. To spare you the digging through the endless web posts, blogs and magazines, I’ve done some digging on my own, and luckily for you, I’ll share my findings with you. So, read on, to find out the hottest beach lovin’ trends for this season. Be careful not to burn yourself though, they sure are hot.

Cut the story shorts

summer shorts

Let me cut this long story short, and say shorts are always IN, especially denim ones. But there is a new trend in town, compared to last year’s as-short-as-it-can-be and let-the-pockets-show trend. So give your mom a break from nagging about super-short shorts this year and chose an ultimate hit- cuffed denim shorts. It can still give away the distressed look, but a little more polished. Besides, the loose boyfriend style is much more comfortable for the beach.

Swimsuit as a statement

summer swimsuits

Who can imagine summer break without a swimsuit? This year’s quest for the right swimwear may be a little more difficult than the last one, not because there is nothing to be found, but exactly because of variety of choices, for every style and every figure (fringes, crop tops, high waist, crocheted, etc.).If you don’t know where to look, let your favorite celebs show you the way; form Shay Mitchell’s mesh one-piece and Kylie Jenner’s cutout bikini to Ellie Goulding’s color-block bikini, they sure know how to rock a swimwear.

Cover-up with a hint

Everyone loves beach cover-ups, they’re sexy and stylish, revealing and concealing, simply perfect. For this season you can opt for kimonos with tropical inspired prints and fringe or bohemian kaftans. Multifunctional sarongs are always a hit, especially in season’s hottest yellow and green colors. If you are headed on some awesome poolside or seaside party, just put on a vivid beach dress on top of your bikini or one piece suit, and you’re good to go.

Go skating!

Just kidding, I’m referring to seasonal hottest hit: skater dresses and skirts. You probably remember your mom’s stories about the 90’s, well this trend is the perfect reminiscent of the golden years of fashion experimenting. The trademark cut of a skater dress and the in-between-mini-midi length will give you a stunning waist and a chance to show off your gorgeous legs. So, why not go back to the past, when this blast is that amazing?

Come out and play

summer playsuit

It’s summer break so it’s the right time to get playful with playsuits and start jumping of joy with jumpsuits. Sometimes a dress just won’t do and in those times, you should grab a playsuit or jumpsuit. So for a trendy and fun look, play around with patterns, textures, materials and colors, such as boho print, chiffon, fringe, lace, leopard print, zig-zag print, crossover cut, open back, crochet, strappy back, Aztec print, etc. If you’re headed to some family celebration or some similar more formal event, repeat everything, but this time with a jumpsuit.

No reason to wait any longer, get this party started! Have fun girls, that’s what summer is about and enjoy this fantastical summer trends all the way to September.

Affordable Luxuries: #Rarities Collection by @CarolBrodie

When it comes to the finer things in life, there aren’t that many options for a broke post-grad. We’re stuck paying loans, paying bills, keeping food on the table and keeping decent clothes on our backs to trek back and forth (hopefully!) between interviews. Luxury bags and luxury jewelry becomes a thing of dreams. Something to hold off on until we are finally situated in a job that doesn’t pay scraps. If we’re lucky, we may have a real ring or necklace that was handed down to us from a great grandmother or great aunt, twice removed.

The thing about inherited or gifted jewelry is that it’s not truly yours. You didn’t make the decision to find and invest in a real fine piece of jewelry. You didn’t customize it to your specifications. The hand-me-down is not a true representation of who you are. It’s a reflection of generations past that may be mirrored onto you. That’s why I think so many young working women straight out of college flock to disposable jewelry at fast fashion shops, in the ending spending more on things that will eventually end up in the trash.

Jewelry Designer, Carol Brodie, designs jewelry with the working girl in mind. The Rarities Collection is created with the goal of empowering a woman. For you to feel confidence and empowered knowing that you bought something real for yourself that is neither boring or duplicated. After interviewing Carol Brodie, I learned that all her collections are limited. Meaning once they sell out, they’re gone. Each item is unique. No two designs are the same. Rarities has designs that fit all sorts of tastes.

Large bold and ornate pieces to reflect a bigger than life personality!

8.97ct Amethyst and Zircon Rose Vermeil Ring — I tried this beauty on and instantly felt like I could command a whole room!

Ruby, Turquoise and White Zircon Vermeil Ring — Perfect colors for celebrating Independence Day with some pizzaz ~

Small and delicate items that glimmer and gleam.

Simple pendants. The perfect size for everyday wear. And pssst~ They’re a steal!

And everything in-between!

Stackable Diamond Vermeil Kite-Shaped Ring — wear one alone and few for a layered look.

The best thing about The Rarities Collection? The amazing price point and affordability! Because Carol Brodie’s Rarities Collection is available only through HSN, that means you buy them through FlexPay. Instead of paying full price now, you can pay for an item over time, making it easier on your finances and conscience. It’s seriously a win-win. You get real, beautiful, fun and flirty, fine jewelry (see what I did there?) without busting the bank. And you get the sense of empowerment that comes from making a sound financial decision as a young adult, without sacrificing your individuality for the sake of saving money.

Check out the entire amazing collection available now on HSN.

Treat yo self!
