Feature Chef Ingrid Hoffmann @SimplyIngrid @CRMWineFoodFest

Ingrid Hoffmann is passionate about food and entertaining and spends each day sharing her enthusiasm and talent with an international audience. She hosts Simply Delicioso on Cooking Channel while her clever 60-second food and entertaining tips, Un Minuto Delicioso, air daily on Galavision. In September 2010, her Spanish-language show, Delicioso, moved from Galavision to Univision/Telefutura and relaunched as a weekly one-hour lifestyle cooking show. Considering Ingrid’s loyal fanbase in the English and Spanish-speaking communities, she published her cookbook in both languages, SIMPLY DELICIOSO: A Collection of Everyday Recipes with a Latin Twist (Clarkson Potter/Random House) and DELICIOSO: Una Coleccion de Mis Recetas Favoritas con Sabor Latino.

Ever the businesswoman, Ingrid has expanded her brand beyond television and partnered with top cookware and kitchen appliance manufacturer, T-fal, to develop her own Latin-influenced line, Simply Delicioso by Ingrid Hoffmann. The line includes a Paella Pan, Stockpot, various-sized Calderos and even a 12-piece set. It launched on HSN in late 2009 and in addition is now sold at Target, K-Mart, and HEB stores. Ingrid also partnered with Furi to create her own cutlery and kitchen gadgets, which are also available on HSN.

Ingrid’s fascination with food, cooking and style began as a little girl. She started cooking with her mother, a Cordon Bleu chef, at such a young age that she needed a stool to reach the stove. She discovered not only a love of cooking, but a flair for entertaining, and in no time developed her own distinctive style.

Raised in Colombia and the Netherlands, Ingrid moved to Miami where she opened La Capricieuse, a high fashion luxury boutique in Coconut Grove. Ingrid also opened Rocca, the first restaurant to feature tabletop cooking on heated lava rocks. Appearing regularly on local TV, Ingrid was noticed by Hearst Entertainment who signed her for her first cooking show, Delicioso with Ingrid Hoffmann, which initially launched in Latin America. In 2006, the show moved to the Spanish language network, Galavision. Ingrid’s English show, Simply Delicioso, premiered on the Food Network in 2007 and moved to the Cooking Channel in summer 2010. She writes a monthly column in People en Espanol and appears weekly on the #1 Spanish language morning show Despierta America. Ingrid has also made appearances on Ellen, Oprah, Martha Stewart, Regis & Kelly, The Today Show, The Early Show, and Good Morning America.

Ingrid’s success has afforded her the opportunity to give back to the community. She is currently a board member of New York City’s Food and Education Fund and Miami’s Amigos for Kids, as well as an active supporter of Manhattan’s Food and Finance High School, Believe for Colombia Foundation and the Humane Society of Greater Miami.

Year of the Dragon Manicure @BariBeauty

Time to get CRACKING for Chinese New Year!

Chinese New Year is observed for two consecutive weeks, and is popularly known as Spring Festival. It usually starts from late January and early February. The variation in the date of festival is due to the changes in the track of the new moon. The Spring Festival ends on the 15th day when the Lantern festival is celebrated. Pure Ice has a quick and simple nailpolish set to help you achieve this perfect look.

In 2012, Chinese New Yearss Day will be celebrated on January 23. The New Year festival will start from January 22 (Chinese New Year’ Eve) and end on February 6 (Lantern Festival). 2012 marks the 4710th Chinese New Year, and this time it is the Year of Dragon according to the Chinese zodiac calendar.

The Dragon is the 5th sign of the Chinese zodiac and it is regarded as an auspicious symbol which stands for power, good luck, success, and happiness.

Since ancient times, the Chinese New Year was considered as the time to honor ancestors and heavenly deities. In addition, it was the time to organize family gatherings and grand feasts.

There is a legend associated with the celebration of New Year in China. There was a monster named Nian who used to harass the villagers by eating their crops, cattle and taking away their kids. The villagers had no other option but to place food at the entrance to their homes so that the monster would eat it and go away without harming them.

One day, the villagers realized that the monster was scared of red color. So, they adorned their doors and windows with red paper cutouts and spring scrolls. The villagers also burst crackers to frighten the monster. Since then, Nian never came again to the village. Hongjun Laozu, a Taoist monk, was the one who captured the beast later on. Since then, the Chinese have been celebrating the capture of Nian on their New Year’s Day.

Color Customize your iPhone with @ColorWare!

Not everything in life is just black and white—and now either is your iPhone 4S! I made the switch from the Blackberry Bold 9700 to the iPhone 4S about a month ago and I am in love. The iPhone does everything my Blackberry did and more, although I’m still a bit nostalgic about the loss of Blackberry Messenger (RIP bbm </3). While I have no complaints about the phone itself, I have to admit that with my whole family being iPhone-ers, it can get confusing. To add a personal touch, I tried out the Kate Spade case (hate it—its bulky and it cracked within the week) and then a pink Apple Bumper, but wasn’t satisfied with either. I had heard about customizing the back glass panel of my iPhone with a color of my choice for a small fee and seeing as I’ve been going through phone cases like I own a store, I figured it was worth a shot.

I did some research online and saw that there are countless colors and combinations to create.

Now, my iPhone looks like this (and I absolutely love it) —

As designer Bill Blass so eloquently said, “When in doubt, wear red.” 😉

Rock Your Hair Bombshell Big Hair Powder

    ROCK-YOUR-HAIR-BOMBSHELL-BIG-HAIR-POWDER

I recently fell in love with hair powder. I’ve had hair powder used on me before but never got the chance to play with it on my own until I recently picked up a bottle of Rock Your Hair Bombshell Big Hair Powder from their Pink Line at a beauty mixer.

The Bombshell hair powder is a white, very finely milled powder that is lightly scented. The product is meant for giving your hair volume and an instant lift minus teasing and a blowout. It works wonder with my long, heavy hair. I’ve been testing out this product for a few weeks now and I’ve found that I like to use it most at the end of a long work day when I’m ready to go out to dinner or out on the town. After a day at the office, sometimes my hair just doesn’t have anymore life to it so the Bombshell Big Hair Powder is great for perking it back up.

    ROCK-YOUR-HAIR-BOMBSHELL-BIG-HAIR-POWDER

The product smells really light, sweet and fresh. What I liked most about the product is that it gave my scalp a cooling, refreshing feeling when I sprinkled the powder on almost like the feeling almost like a menthol, minty feeling. The only warning I must give with using this product (and probably all other hair powders) is DON’T overuse it. Gage the right amount you need or else you’ll end up with a greasy, piecey locks. Also, packaging is adorable! I love the rhinestone touch on the logo 🙂

I don’t think you can buy Rock Your Hair products on their site but they’re carried in select salons and retailers. I did find it on Amazon though, for $14.99. Try it out and let me know your thoughts. If you’re long locks are in need of some oomph then I definitely recommend it 🙂
