Us The Duo and Burt’s Bee Balm

Husband and wife folk-pop group and Republic Records recording artists, Us The Duo – Michael and Carissa Alvarado – have been making waves this year with their hit single “No Matter Where You Are” and their viral 6-second Vine covers.  Now, the musical duo is lending their talent to Burt’s Bees to create songs inspired by the different Burt’s Bees lip balm flavors.

Us The Duo vaulted to prominence via Vine early in 2014. Their #6SecondCovers gained major traction, but it was their medleys that launched them to stardom on the platform catching the attention of many publications and causing their social media following to grow over 4 million.

Tad Kittredge, Associate Director of Marketing at Burt’s Bees explains, “Us The Duo’s lip-centric Vines and their compelling love story caught our attention. We’re thrilled to see how they musically interpret the flavors of our natural lip balms with their flare for delightful six-second riffs. Check out the debut Coconut & Pear Vine with the lyrics, “Coconut & Pear, you’ve got the flowers in your hair. And we’re in love.” Or enjoy the all-new Wild Cherry ode, “Wild Cherry, I like to savor. Pull it out ya pocket and uncap the flavor.”

Apps to Keep you Fit 2015

One way to keep your motivation as strong in September as it is in January is by using technology. Wearables and apps are increasingly popular tools for keeping fitness routines on track, with 45% of consumers saying they are very or somewhat likely to pick up a fitness wearable in the next year.

Verizon Wireless, the nation’s largest and fastest 4G LTE network, has some suggestions for how to keep your fitness goals on track using wearables and apps.

    For example:

    · The Misfit Shine is not the clunky, unfashionable fitness tracker you’re used to. It can be worn as a necklace, watch, sneaker attachment or shirt attachment and is just about the size of a quarter. Don’t let the small size fool you, though – this thing delivers mighty results. It tracks steps, activities (even swimming!) and sleep. You can use the accompanying app to set goals and track your progress as well.
    · Boring bathroom scales need not apply – the Fitbit Aria Wi-Fi Smart Scale measures your weight, body fat percentage and BMI, giving you a snapshot of your progress over time. After setting it up with a computer or smartphone, the scale automatically and wirelessly syncs your progress with charts and graphs through your Wi-Fi network to your private Fitbit account. It can also be programmed for up to 8 different people, so your family can join in on your resolution too!
    · Put your smartphone to work – work out, that is! With the Lose It! app, you can set goals, track calories and exercise, and stay motivated. Plus, it syncs seamlessly with tons of other apps, including Nike+ and RunKeeper, so you don’t have to manually enter data.
    · Confused by nutrition labels, good fat versus bad fat and how much sugar you should be eating in a day (don’t worry, I am too!)? Try Fooducate, the app that’s like bringing a dietician to the supermarket. Simply scan a barcode and see product highlights, a comparison between products and healthier alternatives.
