Review LOVE: Kinky Haircare with NHF

I was browsing the aisles of Ramco, a local store here in Togo that’s similar to a Wal-Mart. I came to an immediate halt when I got to the hair care aisle… my favourite aisle. I noticed that they have loads of natural hair care products, and when I say natural, I mean these products contain all natural ingredients, no chemicals. I had to stop myself from buying everything off of the shelves, and instead decided to treat myself to a shampoo and conditioner by Natural Herbes Force (NHF). I stopped using shampoo a couple of years ago, as I found it made both my hair and scalp really dry. Instead I use conditioner to wash (co-wash) and condition my hair, but I bought the NHF shampoo because I’m honestly so tired of the baking soda method to clarify my scalp when I have build up. Totally over it.

I figured I’d give the NHF shampoo and conditioner a try, seeing as they both contain all natural ingredients. The shampoo is a blend of a variety of african plants, coconut milk and shea butter; and the conditioner is a blend of a variety of african plants as well, coconut oil and protein/magnesium (which I hear is excellent for enhancing curls). As soon as I got back to the hotel, I jumped straight into the shower. It was time to put these babies to test!

The shampoo doesn’t real smell like anything really, and it doesn’t sting when it gets into your eyes! I wash my hair in sections, this way I get to give my hair and scalp a good wash, and it also prevents breakage that comes from tangling.

The conditioner smells like bubble gum! I also condition my hair in sections, as it helps me to gently remove any tangles in my hair, and also ensures that I get the conditioner EVERYWHERE.

I threw on a shower cap and kept the conditioner in my hair for 30 minutes.

After rinsing out the conditioner, I re-twisted my hair with 100% coconut oil and sealed my twists with raw Shea butter; then threw on a satin wrap and went to bed 🙂

Took my twists out two days later. My hair/scalp were nice and clean, my hair was super soft and smelled like sweet bubble gum!

I have to say that I’m so relieved to have found an all natural shampoo and conditioner, cause I’m not one of those “naturalists” that likes making her own shampoo and conditioner… I don’t have the patience for all of that lol. If you’re ever on this side of the world and are looking for an all natural shampoo and conditioner (no matter your hair type), I would definitely recommend Naturals Herbes Force! Your hair and scalp will love you forever!

    peace and love

Whistler Zip Line 2.0 from @RCPetproducts

Right after our Hurricane came the snow!  The first day of snow in New York usually means wet, dirty and chaos. But in Brooklyn, this first snowfall was rather peaceful.  Jacob tried on the RC Pet Whistler Zip Line 2.0 coat today for his walk and despite the wet melty snowflakes, he stayed completely dry. The large and secure velcro around the belly make sure the wind could not shift the coat side to side. The second neck velcro strap came with a higher collar that prevented the blowing wind to his ears. The 3M stripes make it safe for cars to see him which is a great feature.

Overall, this is a nice heavy duty coat for any city dog and the colors are wearable for any dog of any size or breed.

Some of the best features I want to highlight:
    -water resistant nylon shell
    -fleece lining
    -harness access zipper
    -velcro neck closure
    -3M reflective
    -Machine Washable

    Getting lean with @SaffroLean

There are thousands of weight loss supplements out there with exaggerated promises of rapid weightless without making changes to your diet yada yada yada, not to mention the slew of dangerous stimulants that come with them… so when I heard about SaffroLean a few months ago, I was honestly less than excited. However, seeing as I’d been struggling with my weight for the past year, I figured I’d give it a try. I had quite a scare last year with my heart, which landed me in  and out of hospital for a few weeks. After being released from hospital, I found myself slipping into an uncontrollable downward spiral of depression, and picked up a nasty habit of comfort eating.

I went from this (left) to that (right) in less than 6 months! The heaviest I have ever been!

I was eating ALL THE TIME, even when I wasn’t hungry, plus I ditched being vegetarian and started eating meat like my life depended on it lol. I’m not sure why I started comfort eating, as I usually eat less when I’m stressed, but I’m guessing that because I was in the final lap of finishing my degree, and recovering from some undiagnosed condition; the stress was more than I could handle, who knows.

A Uniquely Effective Approach to Weight Loss and Food Control. Where Great Health Begins

I received a 90-day trial pack of SaffroLean a few months ago, and after reading all about it, I couldn’t wait to give it a try. I was even more excited upon discovering that SaffroLean is stimulant free, meaning I didn’t have to worry about any dangerous stimulants causing uneasiness and making my heart race (phew!).  Because I was having trouble with my snacking and portion control, I was pleased to see that some of the many benefits of taking SaffroLean were reduced snacking and overeating, as well as a faster metabolism!

Clinical studies show that people that took SaffroLean lost an average of 28.4 lbs in 90 days. I’ve been taking SaffroLean for two months (60 days) and although I don’t see any drastic weight loss, others have mentioned that they have noticed changes in my weight. My mother also says that my face has slimmed down, and that overall, I’m much slimmer than I was at my graduation in June. So that’s a good sign. I can say however, that I snack WAY less, and I definitely eat a lot less, in fact; I find I only eat at meal times (which is great because before I was eating every hour on the hour… yeah), and I really didn’t even make any effort to change my diet. All I have to do is take one capsule of SaffroLean 30 minutes before breakfast and lunch and just go about my day. Stress free! I also noticed that I was happier, and had a more positive attitude towards how I approached eating and losing weight. It’s easy to let weight gain get you down, and maintaining a positive attitude can be difficult, even when you know you’re trying your best, so it was definitely a bonus that SaffroLean helps with improving a person’s mood and sense of well-being. Can we say WINNER?!

The picture on the left is when I started taking SaffroLean in September, and the picture on the right is my second month using SaffroLean. The very first picture is me a few days ago 🙂

So what’s in it? Simply put; appetite-curbing  Satiereal Saffron, fat oxidizing Green Tea Extract, plus 5 other important Vitamins (Vitamins D3 B1, B2, B6, and B12),  and NONE of the dangerous stimulants.

    The key player?

Satiereal Saffron: is a natural extract from the same plant as the spice saffron. For centuries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, saffron has been used as an aid to improve mood and relieve stress. Europeans discovered that along with these benefits, it can be used to aid in successfully losing weight and keep it off

I’ve only been taking SaffroLean for two months, and I’m loving the results so far, so I can’t wait to see the results after I finish the next 30-days. I’d like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Pamela Mirante and the entire SaffroLean team for giving me the opportunity to try SaffroLean, I’ve really enjoyed taking it, and once I’m done my 90-day trial, I plan on getting more SaffroLean!!

    stay healthy 🙂

    Ridiculously easy butternut squash soup!

Over the past few weeks, I have gotten really into making soups – they are easy, delicious and perfect in this cold weather. This butternut squash and cinnamon recipe is so simple it could be whipped up in your sleep.

Packed with nutrients and flavour, this modest little recipe has become one of my favorite winter warmers.

This recipe serves 10, so plenty to share or to enjoy as leftovers.

    You will need:

    a chunk of butter
    1 large onion, chopped
    4 garlic cloves, chopped
1 large butternut squash (at least 2 1/2 lbs)
    1 cup heavy cream
    1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
    5 cups chicken broth
    1 -2 pinch cinnamon
    salt
    pepper
    sour cream, to garnish (Optional)

    Directions:

    1. Cut the Butternut squash length ways in half and scoop out the seeds. Roast on a lightly oiled roasting pan for 40 to 45 minutes.
    2. In the mean time, sautee the onion, ginger, and garlic in butter until soft.
    3. Add the broth, simmer for ten minutes.
4.Take the squash out of the oven and add to the pan
    5. Puree in a food processor/blender/mixing pot
    6. Return to pan
