Live Life Adventurously @GOApeUSA Rockville Maryland

I must be the only person who is jumping for joy that summer is over. To me, summer is great in small doses like 3 months and that is plenty for me.  Fall is definitely my favorite season for adventure.  It is after the sticky summer and right before the snowy winter.

I wanted to find something to do and recommend to our readers so I decided to check out Go APE.  Go Ape Ltd. is an outdoor pursuits company which runs 28 Tree Top adventure courses in forests in England, Scotland and Wales consisting of rope ladders, zip-lines, rope bridges, trapezes and swings.

On Friday, we drove the oh so sporty Silver FORD ESCAPE to Maryland got up early for our tree top adventure on Saturday!

First of all Maryland is gorgeous. We stayed right by the RIO and the service was just exceptional. It is really nice to get a break from the hustle and bustle of New York. Look at this view!

We arrived at the course and we were in a group of 12. We got our equipment and all the info from the Go Ape instructor Bridgette. She was funny and explained clearly what we had to do, to stay attached at all times and how to enjoy the adventure course. She is adjusting the harness on me right here – SO glad I didn’t wear shorts! The landing on your feet is not as easy as it looks!

GoApe is challenging and fun but easy enough for a 10 year old. Good thing I was tall enough!

Being attached with the red safety line is really really important. Here I am practicing before we got on to Course 1 – There were 5 in total.

To land gracefully, you are suppose to land forwards running or land backwards by digging your heels in. I landed on my butt.

The Tarzan swing was really cool! You attach all three hooks (blue, red and green) and swing!

There were tough parts and easy parts – You can choose your level of challenge and there’s more than one way to complete each course.

It was the most beautiful day and hanging out 40 feet high in the trees was so cool!

I kinda felt like a monkey! Though I didn’t have a tail to help me balance I was strapped in place with the harness so I wasn’t scared of the heights for the most part. The park is well built, well maintained and the groups were spaced out so we didn’t feel rushed at all. Plus there was water at every station for us to stay hydrated.

This bridge was by far the hardest of all! I got a bruise on my shin to prove it

This is the perfect place to come on a date, a birthday, a weekend or for team building!

Go Ape is a great adventure for anyone even if you are not a monkey, not in shape, not outdoorsy or not an expert!

So much fun and we had an amazing time at Go Ape! If you want to see a video of me wiping out

We will definitely go again.  Thank you!

Training my feet…For My 21st with Aldo @shoesCherie

Okay so I turn the big twenty-one in about six months. I know that is months from now, but I have officially taken the proper steps of trying to turn myself into a lady. The first step was to try on makeup but I put that aside to conquer my biggest feat yet…high heels.

Over the years I have tried and failed to master the complexity of walking on stilts. High heels and I are like Marvel vs DC. So I’ve always stuck to flats. A week ago I went to ALDO to put aside my cold feet and stuff them into some cute, versatile foot wear meant for the beginner but focused on the woman!

Here’s my find:

About a 3-4 inch heel. Style: MUTHER in Midnight black. ALDO only had a rich brown and black, for my first heel I wanted something that could go with every outfit. So black it is. These heel/boots are so freaking comfortable, which was also a fear of mine. Shoe shopping can be very painful to look beautiful. I am not ready to give up comfort for being pretty for a few hours. Baby steps people…baby steps.

Now I wanted to get a wedge because I figured it would be good practice but the wedges in the store had me scared that I would break an ankle!

So I found these beauties which ran me close to one hundred dollars. I was told you can’t be cheap on your first pair, or you’ll mess up your feet. Now in the up coming months I will be seeking more of this woman training. I am talking make up, dresses, workouts, heels, hair. I am trying to get ready for my big 2…1 people!!

So if you are a stylista out there with any tips and tricks on the ways of the woman that can transform me from a cluts to a lady, I am ready for the wisdom.

So what do you vote these shoes, yes or no? Winning or losing? I look forward to your responses ladies and gents!

PipSqueak in Brooklyn

A great addition to the Clinton Hill/Bed-Stuy Neighborhood and a true sign of the the rapid gentrification in this area.  Pipsqueak is a full service baby gear heaven with everything from cribs to strollers and toys and clothes.  This store is for anyone ages 0-5 and is a fun retail addition to Bedfore Ave.

The selection in here is unique with a design-centric feel.  Some of their goodies include adorable stuffed toys, organic clothing and eco-friendly items like bottles, bibs, pacifiers and strollers. Pipsqueak carries brands such as Aden + Anais blankets, swaddles, sheets and textiles; Wonderboy and Stun trendy boys and girls clothing; Under the Nile and Baby Soy organic infant clothing; Summer Infant grooming supplies; Dr. Brown’s  bottles and pacifiers; and toys by Mattel, Fisher-Price and Hasbro.

Owner Melissa Manning was inspired to open Pipsqueak after looking for a gift for her 1 year old cousin in this neighborhood with no luck. Since her husband’s family owns tons of children’s stores in Venezuela, Pipsqueak came into fruition naturally!

They will be offering prenatal yoga, music lessons, toddler French classes (mais oui bien sur bebe!), clothing swaps and most importantly – a sweet community for young Brooklyn moms and moms-to-be to hang!

Find them on Facebook here!
