@OCCMakeup Opens Flagship Store in NYC!

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics will be opening their first flagship store in NYC tomorrow, September 22nd! More specifically, they’ll be on the Lower East Side where CEO/Creative Director of OCC, David Klasfeld says, “has really become the true hub of all things creative and artistic coming out of New York. The neighborhood’s latest renaissance is producing cutting edge design fashion, designers, salons and art galleries, and that’s where OCC needs to be.”

The flagship store will be filled with eye catching colors from floor to ceiling. Best of all about the store? THE OCC MIXING BAR! Beauty buffs and makeup pros alike will be able to go mix products into their own shades and customize their own loose eyeshadows, lip tars, and nail polishes. With other 36 colors in the lip tar, loose shadows, and polishes the combinations are endless!

OCC will be having a Grand Opening event TOMORROW, September 22nd at the new store from 6-9pm. There will be professional artists there to mix and apply products for you, drinks, music, and fun!

David Klasfeld will also be there to talk about Fall and Winter 2011 makeup trends with the new collection. If you’re in the area, try to stop by! The store will open to the public the next day, September 23rd. Store hours will be 11am-7pm Monday through Saturday and 12pm-6pm on Sunday.

The store is at 174 Ludlow Street (between Houston & Stanton) right by fellow vegan stores Babycakes, Moo Shoes, and Teany.

Taking it Uptown: Art for Change

On Friday I took the hike uptown to East Harlem for the Art for Change “Noche Clandestina.” Tucked away in an unassuming basement gallery, the night was full of art, spoken word, and a special burlesque performance by Brown Girl’s Burlesque.

Art for Change encourages the advancement of progressive social change by using art as a catalyst for disseminating information to people.

Artists used various mediums to convey experiences, struggles and aspirations, inspiring people to consider, with a questioning eye, their ways of life, their environment, their roles, how various systems work, and ways to improve their lives and environment.

Fred Butler Uses @MinxNailsDotCom at London FW S/S 2012

On September 18th, Fred Butler presented his Spring/Summer 2012 collection during London Fashion Week using custom Minx Nails to enhance his already vibrant collection. Bulter collaborated with UK nail stylist Marian Newman and Minx Nails co-founder Janice Jordan to create a nail coating to fit with his theme of little underwater sea creatures.

Using MinxLusion, the team was able to add little fins and gills to the nails to create gorgeous whimsical nail fashion. Each of the four models sported different customized nail styles for the presentation. Check out how amazing these nails looked!
