Let’s Rock the Block!
So sadly, (our poor excuse of a…) summer is coming to an end lol. Goodbye to a few sunny days, a lot of rainy days, and who could forget having to wear a jacket in JULY??? Luckily we have another great event to take our minds off of our recent wannabe summer; Rock The Block!!!
For one night only this Friday, one of downtown’s biggest events, will be coming downtown T.O to help us wrap up the “summer” with fun, food, drinks, music, tonnes of food vendors (including the very delicious Cocktails by Gateau; yes, cocktail inspired gateau!! {cake}), and of course LOTS of giveaways.
As if their not spoiling us enough, this year Rock the Block has added some new features that we”ll definitely enjoy:
Wine Tasting featuring local Yadkin Valley wineries (oooooooh yeah!)
Street Performers displaying a variety of acts
And of course some old favorites:
Craft Row (and this time with more artisans!)
The Sheetz BMX Stunt Bike Show
And of course the Modern Toyota Children’s area, with lots more inflatables, including a huge slide for the kids… ahem (anyone) to enjoy 🙂
This edition of Rock the Block is produced by the city of Winston Salem & the Downtown Winston-Salem partnership, and will feature a variety of live music; Rock, Beach, Country, R&B etc. Fun times!!
The event will start at 6pm through to midnight. Be there! And make sure you go say hi to Cocktails by Gateau!!When’s the last time you saw a Mojito look this GOOD!?mmmmmm….So pretty!! and TASTY!!Don’t miss out on more goodness like this!!

Maxwell: BLACK summers’night Tour
This tour is hitting Toronto at the perfect time for me, so I thought I’d notify all of u… in case its your due-time too!!! As much as I have loved Maxwell since the days of ‘Ascension’ and ‘This Womans Work’, I’ve reached an age now where I can honestly relate to his lyrics from past experiences (instead of just falling infatuate to his lulling voice and melodic rhythms). This time, with BLACK summers’night he’s managed to attract me from every angle and produce tracks that give strength and courage while romanticising the coldest heart!!!
September 25th is the date so SAVE IT! He’s turning the ACC in to his own playground and he will have us all in the palm of his hand… I can’t wait!!!ÂHere’s the lyrics to ‘Pretty Wings’… they grabbed me from the first verse and held me until the last note:Time will bring the real end of our trial
One day there’ll be no remnants no trace
No residual feelings within ya
One day you won’t remember me.Your face will be the reason I smile
But I will not see what I cannot have forever
I’ll always love ya
I hope you feel the same.Oh, you played me dirty, your game was so bad
You toyed with my affliction
Had to fill out my prescription
For the remedy
I had to set you free.Away from me
To see clearly
The way that love can be when you are not with me
I had to lead
I had to live
I had to leave
I had to loveIf I can’t have you
Let love set you free
To fly your pretty wings around.Pretty wings, your pretty wings, your
Pretty wings. Pretty wings around.I came wrong you were right
Transformed your love into a lie
Baby believe me I’m sorry I told you liesI turned day into night
Sleep till I die a thousand times
I should have showed you better nights, better times, better days
And I miss you more and moreIf I can’t have you
Let love set you free

Shawty GET IT IN!
I was sooo disappointed to read so many negative tweets about Beyonce’s VMA performance last night, (especially from women! you should be ashamed of yourselves for not congratulating a VERY HARD WORKING woman.) That I simply had to say something…
They talked about how she has half naked, some people didn’t like her dancing, some people said they saw things they didn’t wanna see bla bla bla.. Were you watching??? I’m not a huge Beyonce fan, but I think she’s a great artist/performer. So all I wanna know is, for all the people that were talking smack, how many of you could’ve pulled off that performance? Or even raked in the numbers (both $$$ and album sales) that she has in her career??? *hear’s a pin drop*, didn’t think so; so instead of being “hateful” why not simply give credit where credit’s due?
For those who still aren’t sure if Bey’s got it; in the friendly words of her hubby, “I think I better give you a REMINDER, here it is!”Find more videos like this on ThisIs50.com : IF IT’S HOT IT’S HERE!
Loved it!
