I am still learning how to use everything in my new macbook so please bear with me these next few posts. I finally figured out how to use iPhoto. So here is the video that I took down at Staples and some photos. Just so you can get a glimpse of the frenzy this event truly was.

    Holy F*ck at Harbourfront!!!

This weekend is the Smirnoff Beats, Breaks & Culture festival!

For those of you who don’t know It’s one of Canada’s most influential electronic music festivals. “BBC (Beats, Breaks, Culture) pursues, dissects celebrates and showcases the best national and international electronic music and culture.”

And guess who’s gonna be there?! HOLY F**K!!!!

That’s the name of the band by the way… loves it! Anyway Toronto’s very own “super evil” group will be performing at Habourfront this weekend, and I’m so excited!!
First song I ever heard was Lovely Allen, and I was immediately hooked!

This awesome group consists of Graham Walsh, Brian Borcherdt, Matt McQuaid and Matt Schulz. This band uses live instrumentation and miscellaneous instruments and non-instruments i.e a 35mm film synchronizer, toy keyboards and toy phaser guns) to create, “electronic-sounding effects without the use of laptops or programmed tracks.” It is said that the band was formed with the purpose of creating the equivalent of modern electronic music without actually using the techniques. You can’t tell me you don’t think these guys are wicked!!

Did you know that they wrote the songs from their album, LP, without rehearsing! Best part? They did this while they were live on tour! After every show they’d return from tour, check into a studio and capture the energy of the live show, recording the shows that had now taken shape. Now that’s talent!

Anyway the show starts at 9:30pm this Friday (July 10th) so if you have nothing to do this weekend, then definitely head down to Harbourfront. Even if you have plans this weekend, squeeze at least 20 minutes of the show into your “busy” schedule! lol

    See you there!!

ps: the festival runs from July 10th through to the 12th at Harbourfront.

If you are a networker and always out and about, you must get this for your home office to keep yourself organized. Industrial design is amazing! These are things that people use on a day to day basis and ID’s improve their aesthetics and ergonomic appeal. Toronto, Umbra is one of my favorite industrial design spots. In LA, Plastica on W 3rd is the spot to get all things industrial design related!

This is the Broccoli card holder.

    Super cool card holder.

iPod, Coke bottle, VW Beetle, the Jeep – classic Industrial design.

industrial design = art + engineering

Industrial design is an applied art whereby the aesthetics and usability of mass-produced products may be improved for marketability and production. The role of an Industrial Designer is to create and execute design solutions towards problems of form, usability, user ergonomics, engineering, marketing, brand development and sales.

If you are interested in studying industrial design, check out Ontario College of Art & Design

and Rhode Island School of Design

I don’t buy what you think I’d like – I design, create and sell ’em back to ya!

    Remembering Michael

(Sorry for the crappy quality, i had to get it off my blackberry then to some avi file and lost the audio in the process. Basically what you missed is me saying Hi everyone, it’s your girl Yvonne from HeyDoYou! I am overwhelmed by everyone here with their outpour of emotions. They are also screaming $5 t-shirts at the camera as I filmed them – the pics are better 🙂 )

MJ fans flood the street of Downtown LA today and even some of FIDM student orientation things had to be rescheduled because of the memorial that took place this morning. Since I don’t have a TV and didn’t think to watch live on CNN.com (til I got back!), I headed down to talk to some of the fans that celebrated Michael Jackson life as the King of Pop.

    Kick, push down 7th

Various vendors selling various versions of T’s for $5

    The littlest vendor

Cash is King – Michael Money anyone?

This is how much parking costed today. (I took the Metro for $1.25)

Jumbo-tron set up for the media tents

    Peep the glove

    Slideshow of Michael pics

Millions all over the world tuned in the watch the Michael Jackson public memorial. I went down to the Staples Center to see all the emotional fans, the hustlers, the t-shirt sellers, the water vendors and whole assortment of people who wanted to get involved in this global event. I also took some video on my Blackberry, just have to figure out how to convert it.

Crowd chanting Michael and then singing Man in the Mirror

    demoing MJ dance moves

    LA skies today

You are not alone: How do you want to be remembered?

One fo my favorite things in the world is a scrumptious bakery. You can always something small to satisfy your sweet tooth and makes a great present. Yum. So many flavors! Here’s a few of my top picks:

    7-up Pound
